Title: Stopping during Pursuits
Post by: RayCarter on June 28, 2010, 13:47:21 pm
I've noticed alot of Cops will abandon a Pursuit to go back and pickup an Officer who just flipped.
I think this is wrong and the Officer should keep with the pursuit and leave the Officer behind.

You can prevent the Suspect escaping and the Officer can catch up later once he's got a new Car.
The only time someone should pickup an Officer is when you're the last Car in the pursuit.

What's your thoughts?

What about if this officer with no car has a smg, you pick him up and catch up with the suspect? Isn't it easier to have someone shoot at suspect's car then waiting for the good moment for a PIT ?

Pursuit is not about shooting suspect's vehicle to be stopped/damaged/blew up/etc.
It's about "RPing" Police Chase, it should be like Ray stated, and I always do that
Last car of the pursuit should be the pick-up transport, just like cops IRL do,
when there is an accident caused by a chases, the lastest police car will clear the scene/contact EMS, etc.

Ray, you were the last person I expected to hear this from. ARPD is about team work, and putting your fellow officer before yourself. Ok You are a very strict role player so lets do it like this.

Ex: Officer has flipped... He is seriously injured.

Do you?

A) Continue presuit and leave him to die?
B) Pick him up and take him to the hospital?
C) Pick him up and continue with the presuit?

b/c is the answer.

Yes, Arpd is about teamwork. You shouldn't leave an officer behind.

I was thinking about what if that officer had SMG? Well, I would definitely pick him up, but we should pick anyone. Then this reply after this one appear.

You have every right to shoot a suspect car whenever you do /s3 or /m3. You would especially shoot if the suspect was shooting back towards you. You stated that it is all about "RPing" but as long as you give them the protocol then that is rp enough.  Now you might say no it's not, but what if it is a buffalo, cheetah, or turismo, etc... The SMG would be very helpful in the pursuit.

I would rather continue chasing/following the Suspect than stop to pickup another officer just so he can shoot from the window. If I have a partner with me, he's to use the radio updating my location, not shooting from the window. Doing the Job is more important to me than ARPD morals. I would gladly run miles to the nearest police station if it meant the lead unit continuing the pursuit and catching the suspect.

That's low man. We should always be helpful with each other, not leaving people behind.

It's not completely "leave an officer who badly injured behind"
Remember, there was another police car following the chase!

[Suspect] [You] [Cop] <<< [Officer injured] <<< [Cop, help the injured]

I rarely drive-by suspect's vehicle with SMG on fast car, buffalo, cheetah, infernus, w/e
The Teamwork is the only key, not the "advantage" to lower suspect's car's speed/damaging tires/etc.
Even only one driver, no operator (/r reporting) in each PD car in a chase, but the Leading unit using TeamSpeak communication... it HELP A LOT.

I would pick the cop up as long as I had the space, since whilst I don't give a shit about criminals I do care about cops. Well, country cops :D

I would still pick up a city cop but I would probably take the mickey a little!

Lol well still that is the point. We need to support and act like a team or we are destined to fail. The only cops I would not pick up are Immigration patrol  (I joke I joke)
