Why hello there officers, I'm here to give you a little slice of my opinion on the... lets say grammar and structure of topics.
No I'm not trying to be pretentious and I do understand that not all ARPD members come from english speaking countries or backgrounds. I'm basically vying for those who are from english backgrounds to perhaps, improve their grammical skills etc, or perhaps just display them more often. Too long have I Seen The Constant Random Capitals and sentences that seem to go on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on with multiple and's rather than commas and sentences that just seem to go on and on and on and on without a fullstop... and on.
Hell I understand that some people cannot be bothered, but it adds a sense of professionalism and neatness to a topic. I get that sometimes errors are completely accidental and that some don't understand english grammar quite as thoroughly as others.
I also from time to time post nonsensical messages on boards, but only when it's appropriate.
I'm not going to say I have perfect grammar, in fact far from it, but when I See Things Like This and this and that and this and so on, I get a tad irritated. I understand that people are going to label me as a grammar nazi or a douche, but I'm just stating my opinion about the forum.
:)
What're your opinions?

Read the words/letters that i have bolded.
Yeah I agree with you Kelvin, good grammar and english in topics makes it professional.
-
I think it should be encouraged, rather than forced. Some people also seem to find those people that *actually* type/speak normally annoying (), so it's probably best to meet somewhere halfway. A good topic would be one that keeps the interest of the reader and conveys the message appropriately. It doesn't really have to be an English essay, in that case.
It's a nice idea.

I think that was deliberate, to show an example...

1. The phrase vying is a term meaning to 'Compete eagerly with someone in order to do or achieve something.'
2. Yes they are deliberate mistakes, you also missed the ands ands ands ands ands ands, and the what're.
3. I agree that they shouldn't be forced but just implied.

Just a few random capitals but overall yes, a very pretty topic :) I'll be sure to make some when I increase my activity in -looks at watch- approximately 8 days.

That is my only problem is capitalizing letters O well...

Yes, making sure topics are 100% grammaticaly and 100% CaPitAlIsed in all the right places is definatly going to Improve the profesionalism of SAPD.

Now now, my Australian, British and American counterparts, let's not impose our tendency to use our language to perfection on those who are learning English! That's one of the most interesting things about Argonath; watching people's English skills develop over time.

I love reading other peoples topics, expecially when they are from another country. It gives me a glimps of how hard it is to actually grasp the English language. I speak it, it's all all I have ever spoken and I know if I were to attempt to speak/write in another language, I would have google tanslate bookmarked. Reading what other people have written while trying to make it into a readable topic is awesome, it gives that sence of individualism, while also showing the world unite through a single source. If i can read what someone has posted, I have no problems with the format or spelling. They could avoid putting a period in the entire thing and I would try to read it with one breath. We have to remember, this is in fact a video game, not a job. Being perfect doesn't always matter here. :cop:
