Title: SAPD name color same as ARPD
Post by: Abdul_Ghani on December 12, 2010, 13:35:55 pm
I've been thinking of this , I hope that SAPD name color would be same as ARPD name color.

Under what rock have you been?

Under what rock have you been?

What he means is, the present Color system has been instated in the past. (I think that's how ARPD started with?)

However, that was phased out and replaced with what you're proposing since there have been incidents of discrimination towards ARPD Officers.

Then the SAPD Veterans wanted the old (the one in place now) system back and now we have the present Color Scheme.

If you're thinking of doing this to bring discrimination towards ARPD Officers down, you might have to re-think that.

Discrimination against ARPD Officers happens because of the things some of the more abusive ones do. Think of it as a stereotype, whenever we hear "black man" we may think of either the stereotypical "ghetto" gangster or the ones in Africa. (Please don't flame me, this is an example) It doesn't represent all of the black people, but that's the presumption most people have. (Again, don't flame)

If you want to change the image of ARPD, deal with the ones causing that image.

Are you proposing SAPD color becomes light blue again? :conf:

I Don't see it neccesarily as discrimination. All ARPD officers are allowed to apply to SAPD, and be part of the force too.

SAPD Officers work different then the freecops, We have regulations and rules to respect, which helps us in being an organised group. That presents the darkblue color, and to be a little selfish, i think every single SAPD member deserved a darkblue color, to tell the suspect and civilians aswell as freecops that we do belong to SAPD, That they can also ask questions on answers they'll need.

That's my honest point of view

We better not be changed back to the old colors or there will be a lot of cops quit because of this.

It's an honor to get the dark blue badge, why would you want to take it from us?

I would support the Cadets getting a shade of darker blue than the freecops as in the past. It would be better, and easier to distinguish between Cadets and Officers as Cadets are in the process of training.. the blue name makes them seem like they already are expected to know what to do. Also if they do for example make a mistake they are looked at more harshly as "BLUE NAME = GOD KOP"..

I still don't get why no one suggests this...
Why not just make EVERYONE dark blue? Why send us all backwards to a lighter color? Why not make everyone the same, dark blue color so everyone is thought of as official subconsciously, making people want to respect one another more. All the light blue did was make everyone feel dumbed down in their higher ranks, and made the lower ranks feel like there was no reason to get to a higher one.

I would like it to stay as it is right now as I believe this is quite fair. Anyhow, I believe it would be cool if ARPD Officers could receive the light blue color which was used in 2009 if I believe right.

You mean the original Freecop color which was lighter than the Cadet color?

Well the ARPD Officers have something to look up at, when they don't have the dark blue color. As this is something they can receive when they come into the SAPD :)

It's just like what Abdul's proposing, only in reverse, no offense.

We fought long and hard to have our badge representation returned. Joseph were you around when the ARPD Officers (Freecops) colours were even lighter than the cadets colour? That worked well because you could see who was a ARPD Officer, cadet or officer+. That I liked especially.

I see no need to go back to the old system, discrimination still remained because of the massive stigma of 'freecops'. The way to fix this is to educate those who want to learn and develop a system that more quickly rids those that abuse or turns them into those that understand.
