I think there is some confusion here.
ARPD is not just 1 division or am I wrong?
Shouldn't it be like:
ARPD ranks:
ARPD Chief: CBFasi
SAPD: FBI:
Chief Director
Cptn Depty Director
Lt etc etc
Sgt
etc etc
ARPD Officer
-
If you could see the SAPD Boards, its by departments. Look at the full memberlist in Application Section.
-
They say ARPD Officer in the SAMP server because your technically an officer but not in SAPD.
When your on duty but not in SAPD, your in ARPD because your actually on duty. Once your in SAPD, your considered a member so if your a cadet, your not an ARPD Cadet, but a SAPD Cadet.
Those ranks go for all the servers, if your a Sergeant in VCPD, and SAPD, they have kind of the same task.
-
To be honest I think it should be switched. It would make more sense. Freecops in SA:MP should be considered SAPD since they represent the SAPD police force, but they aren't actually a part of the ARPD itself, but that's just my opinion. They have it set up the opposite way to better explain some other issues with the system, because originally Argonath RPG was only on the MTA:VC server, and they didn't want to change the name. That's why the confusion arises.

It should be changed, make it more simple.
Freecops are in ARPD.
-
ARPD consists of SAPD, VCPD, IVPD and SWAT. So technically, all freecops, officers etc are part of ARPD.
-
ARPD = Argonath Roleplaying Police Department = All law enforcements OFFICIAL groups of Argonath, like SAPD, VCPD, FBI....
-
They are just generalizing so there would not have to be "SAPD Chief", "VCPD Chief", "VCPD MTA:VC" Chief "SAPD VC MTA:MP" Chief etc...
-
Still quite confused but still, I just know we have our SAPD and ARPD Ranks. Which is basically the same, but then for ARPD Officers and SAPD Officers it's differrent ^^
-
Well it was originally because the VCPD of MTA:VC was called ARPD back in the day when that was the only server. When SA:MP and VC:MP were added, it confused things because calling them all ARPD created confusion when a server wasn't specified in the description...then later it switched to become ARPD being the overall name for all of the police forces, with SAPD, FBI, and both VCPD's being divisions of it. Later on, they redefined it further to make ARPD the basic "law of the land" in the sense that anyone who roleplays a cop, official or not, is part of ARPD and official officers are part of their respective [metro] departments, such as SAPD and VCPD instead of LSPD, LVPD, SFPD, DPD, VCPD, etc.
I do agree though, it is a bit confusing. I personally think it should be defined as ARPD being the overall organization in charge of LSPD, LVPD, SFPD, DPD, and VCPD, and FBI being their own organization that is comprised of all of the different servers' FBI groups, similar to how ARPD is police, (since FBI is a national organization after-all).
-
Why don't ARPD Officer rank changed to Freecop?
-
Because calling someone a 'freecop' has been seen as derogatory. Hence the name ARPD Officer was brought into play to further reinforce respect for 'freecops'.
-
The ARPD Rank topic thing clearly says that the ARPD consists of all the official policing departments, including SWAT (As part of the SAPD), VCPD, FBI, and whatever else we have
Its just a general description, including each department.
ARPD Officers are police officers, but have not been accepted into any group. Therefore, as they have no official group as such, they are generalised as ARPD Officers.

I see no confusion. They should give the FBI a mention in here, as they are part of the ARPD, but the FBI do not have any ranks which relate to the SAPD/VCPD ranks, apart from cadet, so the ranks will not be mixed up.
I guess they've just forgotten to add the FBI onto the website, but the ranks are clear, as explained on the topic on this forum.

Actually over the years, FBI has gradually separated from ARPD to a more realistic structure. IRL they are a national agency, and they are slowly becoming such.

At this moment, that is irrelevant. ARPD Ranks and Tasks specifies FBI as part of the ARPD

That may be true, but not all the information currently applies. Keep in mind that FBI started off long ago as a police group and grew into almost becoming it's own agency. I personally think it's just a matter of time now.

We talking SA:MP or MTA:VC here?

The entire community as a whole.

... Freecops in SA:MP should be considered SAPD since they represent the SAPD police force, but they aren't actually a part of the ARPD itself, but that's just my opinion.
Actually all law enforcement are ARGONATH ... hence ARPD, BUT you have to apply to SAPD... so freecops do NOT represent SAPD, although then can aspire to it..
Its you that has it wrong
-
Perhaps we should develop ARPD (SA Branch) Regulations?

No man, I was saying that's my opinion of how it should be, not how it is, and yes, I agree with you. I was saying switching the way it was stated to make it less confusing, not changing how it works. ;)
Welcome back by the way. Glad to see you again sir!
Perhaps we should develop ARPD (SA Branch) Regulations?
At this point, which two more potential server departments opening up, (one of which is already accepting applications), it might be a good idea to switch to such a system.
