Lets look at the facts, we are essentially an online game, a community, yes, but basically just a game, right?
Fair enough 'In character' people acting out their roles as Sergeant, Lieutenant, Chief etc, but what really ticks me off is when people seem to believe that this can be spilled onto forums or Main Chat, using their Authority.
In my opinion, the ONLY PEOPLE MORE IMPORTANT THAN ME, online in the server, is an Administrator, they do a job, I do not care whether they are new, nor if they are a freecop or a chief, I judge them on their actions, right?
Why do people get so serious arguing about how they are a higher rank, so they are 'right,' making up your own rules DOES NOT WORK, I am a real life Corporal, so I know this to be true. You make rules, you stick to them, end of...
Now, don't know the policy on this, but should high ranks 'invent' their own rules,' because they perhaps do not like a certain person, for example, in reports, and use different rules in one report to another? Because I see it done fairly regularly.
Naturally, as this is a game, there is no true authority until you get ingame, and really start Roleplaying a cop, so please, stop acting like you are the dogs bollocks because you carry more than 3 stripes on a forum icon.
Discuss?

You joined SAPD to take orders too, don't forget it. Anyway. I haven't noticed anything such this yet, everyone is friendly and helpful from the Command Staff. At last, it depends how you treat them, they will treat you the same!
-
Good Lord we either need a complaint department or a Moan department...
/me has an idea...
I actually have no idea where you came up with this idea.. but yea.. No idea..
-
What the are you talking about? I never "INVENTED" any rules, and I'm not "high and mighty". Your pathetic attempt at trying to complain failed. All ARPD officers are subject to punishment via copban as a suspension, this is from Gandalf himself. If all of you weren't too lazy to actually do research before bad girling you would know.
And for the record, there is obviously authority while not ingame.. don't like it? Resign, act like a foolish corrupt cop, and end up getting copbanned...
-
All ARPD officers are subject to punishment via copban as a suspension,
IVE SAID THIS AT LEAST 55 TIMES DO YOU GUYS THINK WERE LYING>????? It's "Allowed" to Be Corrupt but you will be Suspended........
-
Never heard anything like this, could you provide some links to see if this info holds any water?
-
This topic is an epic win.
Its true in every way and you know it...
I am a real life Corporal, so I know this to be true. You make rules, you stick to them, end of...

1. I never said any names, you assumed it was you, you must have some evidence to show you must have done some of the things in my topic I afore-mentioned
2. I never criticised the report system, and only mentioned ARPD officers to say they are equal to me.
3. You are saying, if I'm off duty, roleplaying a criminal, you can just tell me to 'stop being a criminal,' and I should do it?

Then be a man, and say who you have problem with.

If you dont criticise the report section, then whats your problem?
3. You are saying, if I'm off duty, roleplaying a criminal, you can just tell me to 'stop being a criminal,' and I should do it?
We dont have such rule for regular officers, so dont make up crap. If a cop is f**king around, and abusing the police power, he will have to face with conesequences.. no matter the rank and division.
If you have problem with the system of SAPD.. you are free to leave. As corporal, you have too much free time to stress on a "game community" and make silly topics. If you can't take RP orders.. then play something else, like street sweeper or whatever.
If you wana know where the SAPD can act as higher authority:
-In the game, and any chat surface (depends on the situation, and roleplay).
-ARPD Forums.
-Main ArgonathRPG forums, at certain boards.
-Team Speak Police channels.
If you still dont like it... i would like to see a resignation report from you.

Anyway, I have no intention of resigning, I feel that if your rank is pixels on a screen then it should not leak into anything other than roleplaying scenarios.
-
Then be a man, and say who you have problem with.
Deputy Chief Vincent Vice's attitude sometimes.
I was accused of stepping on toes when I showed that I had a problem with that
All ARPD officers are subject to punishment via copban as a suspension.
Not through the Report To Leaders Board

1. Can ARPD officers (regardless of SAPD or not) be copbanned for being corrupt ?
Yes. However it should be made clear that being a corrupt cop is not disalloed, as long as you do not get reported. Probably people when playing a corrupt cop have no idea of how to handle it.
2. Should people not act RP on this board ?
As ARPD is not a real-life law enforcement organization, it should be clear that the whole site is equally devoted to pixelated games as the in-game ranks and roleplay. That does not mean everything has to be in character, however do expect roleplay statements and actions here.

YES! A straight answer.
For example if people were talking on Main Chat, techically their rank should not exist there?

I'd assume the same rules as Ronnel's Point #2 would still apply.

I don't know a lot about this situation, but I will state my views on authority and the reins of power. Not just for this situation, but for any situation.
If I wield authority, then I will be subject to any rules I make for the organization I lead, as I would be the role model who junior members will take after. That means I will have to follow the rules myself.
For example, if I were SAPD Chief and I instituted a regulation forbidding all SAPD from getting inside any civilian cars when on duty, then I would be forbidden to use the cars too.
As for the issue of respect, this is an online game. While the chain of command must be followed (orders are orders, especially regarding attitude), those in power should remember that they are players as well, and should not integrate into their thoughts and egos that they are kings over the other players, as they do not own or run the community.

Yes, exactly, rather than Rules being 'Made up' as you go along

These people don't last long really. I've seen people get fired from SAPD for "attitude" problems itself. Command Staff watches each members without us knowing really.
But I haven't met any such people, - to date -
Everyone in SAPD seems friendly :)
-
It's not just new officers etc that do this ;)

Argonath does not support IC/OOC chats, I'm guessing that also includes forums. I would say the rank still exists on /p, as it is no less an 'IC' chat than /l (as OOC/IC is not supported).
There are probably situations where both '/l' and '/p', where their rank exists and where it doesn't. Would you ignore a command from a Senior Officer+ on /p ?
-
On /p yea, I'd ignore a command unless they used mine and their ranks specifically
