This is a written out idea to introduce badgenumbers, something which I would recommend to use for a better professional look and easier way to "find" people.
The idea of a badgenumber will include 2 "main" numbers, one of them will be their department number followed by their own number.
The letters representing the police departments will be:
DPD: DM
SFPD: SF
LVPD: LV
LSPD: LS
This number will make it easy to represent the departments.
Those numbers are based on a"phone spell" system
(http://www.rememberg.com/img/phone-spell.png)
On the next part of the number, this will be your UserID as used on the forums. Everyone is able to retrieve their UserID from their profile.
The User ID will be placed behind the "department-number" for example: UserID is 3203 and is in LSPD, his badge-number will be LS3203.
All UserID's contains 4 numbers but there are also 3 digit UserID's then you will just add a "0" in front of the UserID for example: UserID is 834 and is in SFPD, his badge-number will be SF0834.
So even if members change their name, you can still track them by their badgenumber on the forums, since their UserID will always stay the same.
Let's give me several examples of badge-numbers with real examples.
DPD Sergeant Nexxt: DM0829
LSPD Senior Officer Cyril Olaso: LS2222
LVPD Sergeant Marcus Hudson: LV3185
SFPD Captain MrTrane: SF2136
I will like to see this introduced, it's just a little work and it could be added on badges and eventually staff lists.
Please vote and leave some feedback about it! I have talked with several SAPD members about it and they liked it.

I remember you suggested this a while ago within DPD, and as before, I support it!

In DPD it was slightly different, this is well more improved.

I don't support it but I don't ignore it. I am in the middle about this.

Thank you for this idea, Nexxt!
I like the idea of having an own unique badge number. At least I can't see anything bad about it. I often just don't get to know when name changes are made. For example I missed that an Officer's in-game name changed and didn't know for several months, I thought the Officer had left SAPD or something like that. In the last days I came to know that he just changed his name, so we worked in one department and I didn't even know that he was still there.
Things like this could easily be avoided with a badge number system.

I like, I like... I had a similar idea to badge numbers but never really worked on it.
Just an idea - In my local city, they use badge numbers over the radio. Example: Officer: 316 to Dispatch | Dispatch: 316 | Officer: Signal 4 at Brown Park
Of course using this over /r would cause confusion for new ARPD cops, which is why this should only be used in local department CB channel, and /r to be used as cross-department communications, and for ARPD cops to communicate with each other, and SAPD departments.

The purpose is for the whole SAPD and not at the police radio. It's an identification purpose and administrative tool to track their members.

I 100% support this Idea and wish to see it become active. I have been using a made up badge number for some time now in the form of an ID card that I store on my desk. (Shown Below)

I think i would not only add some extra RP element but also allow departments to track members, desks and posts with ease.

Updated after discussions on TeamSpeak. The departments as numbers ended up to long in amount of numbers to properly use, therefor we replaced the numbers with "LS", "SF", "LV" or "DM".

Me gusta.

Unsure with this, I've got some speculations with how it would work out with the members.

If it's not used over the radio and it's just a RP thing, I don't see an issue with it, but I would strongly not recommend every letting it reach the radio since no one would know each other's badge numbers. :cop:

The only example to use it on the radio I can think off is:
Sergeant Paul Cutler #DM0829, 10-8 Dillimore PD
And now people could actually ASK for your badgenumber without having to know all the information about you.

That would only deter the efficiency of the radio though because the badge number is only displayed when a user says it, or when someone asks. If users need to quickly contact each other and they don't know the other person's badge number, it would take a lot of time out to ask before they could even get the message across, since there's no static visual that's always there to show people what it is, like our User ID's are.

Supporting this.

Looks really good, I am with you. Although DPD has callsign "DM", haha
-
Yeah! Since LS, LV and SF are 2 characters and DPD would look different then therefor I used "DM" which just stands for DilliMore obviously. And maybe we are DMers, haha
