Title: Day off's for Muslim SAPD personnel
Post by: Lionel Valdes on July 24, 2012, 00:04:29 am
As you know, Argonath has all sort of religions. I am Muslim myself and it's currently Ramadan. I am thirteen years old so I am not obligated to not eat/drink. Yet some people are Muslims and do that, so it will be kind to give them day off's, and not force them to get more active untill the end of the sacred month. Again, I am only thirteen and I am not obligated to not eat/drink and I am indeed drinking/eating like normal days (allowed). I want your opinion about this and a quick reply from upper command.

Real life has more priority than this game. I respect your condition and understand it as I'm also a muslim. I would prefer you to post an in-activity report.

I fully understand and respect people that are slightly inactive due to this special month. Just post a inactivity note and you should be allright.

It's not like we'll kill you for going inactive for some time...

How i see it the in-game time consumption can be useful way to pass on time so u dont feel hungry while fasting, this is from personal experience. However those who want to take time off can do so if they update their command staff.
You should always remember this is a game and SAPD Command does not force anyone to be active 24/7, those who wish to take breaks can do so but do follow procedure otherwise suddenly just going inactive will result in removal from the force.

I hope this is a sufficient answer to your question...

regards,
Captain Kenny
SAPD Upper Command

SAPD is no big deal compared to real life

Have fun and good luck.

I was at the dentist today, and a Muslim friend of mine left without geting treatment because the dentist wanted to use water to clean something ... it was pretty weird to me ... but I can respect it.

See you when you're back.

He also asked for an opinion on Ramadan (I assume) so why not let the topic be and stop directing him to the Inactivity Reports topic?

As mentioned above, Argonath is a community of many nationalities and religions, and there is no regulation prohibiting you from going inactive for whatever RL purpose may require your time. However, to be fair to the agencies who try to keep updated records on their personnel, please report their inactivity.

However, I have something else to add. I believe that inactivity for occasions such as Ramadan (as I doubt all Muslim members would want to spend the holy month playing games) should not be counted in a member's reported cumulative inactivity in any way that could be considered detrimental to the member when activity statistics are counted, should they post the information (that they will be inactive) beforehand.

As a 13 years old you should fast, I've been fasting since I was 10, because if time comes and you'll have to fast you'll be ready, and being in game while fasting will make day go faster, while you can do holy activitys at night when your tummy is full :P.

My friend is fasting, he's lost half a stone in 4 days I think.

I respect that other people do it, but as a Christian I do not practice anything of the sort really.

Why are people posting here "just report inactivity".

Give the kid some respect. He's asked for opinions and I myself respect anyone who follow's religion and practice's. Good luck mate :)

I don't see your point, sorry mate, but I don't.

Anyone can have any days off they want,  it's a game, think up excuses, be imaginative.

I think the point is, show some kind of empathy for those who are fasting for this holy month, and be tactful in responses.

A more correct response could be:
If you report in the inactivity topic that you will be inactive for a month due to religious reasons, there will be no problems.

So, I agree with Gibson!
