What exactly is wrong with your new PC?
Title: Re: problems---inactive
Post by: Bianconeri on March 10, 2009, 23:31:10 pm
no idea, i got almost no knowledge of the things,
but its just that VISTA completely freezes,
i could play a few mins, and then it completely freezes

it has been gone a while now, so i expect it back soon,
for now im still on old PC,
but as some have seen it gives me a load of lag,
and thats terrible

It's taken that long for them to repair it? Wow, I'd seriously consider taking it somewhere else then.
Honestly, that sounds more like a hardware issue than anything Vista is doing. Is it just when you play games, or do other things cause it? Also, how much RAM does your new computer have?
Title: Re: problems---inactive
Post by: Bianconeri on March 10, 2009, 23:38:49 pm
4GB ram,
and i dont know whats going on exactly,
only thing i know is that the PC completely freezes,
no matter what i do
Title: Re: problems---inactive
Post by: Chief J. Schappell on March 10, 2009, 23:42:51 pm
Well, you have plenty of RAM, so unless the RAM itself is faulty, more than likely there is a piece of defective or broken hardware in your computer. Software/driver conflicts, heat, and dust can also cause these issues, but from the sound of it, that is not the case.

It could be something so small as a little crack on your motherboard that, when the computer has been on long enough and heats up, the heat could cause the space between the crack to expand just slightly, causing your computer to lock up due to circumstances unknown to itself.

Does it lag at all before locking up and freezing? Do the [Number Lock, Scroll Lock, Caps Lock] lights on your keyboard still work after it freezes, and does the Hard Disk Drive activity light still flash or stay on? (Its the one that flickers and blinks randomly when the computer is "thinking".)

i have no idea, its days ago so i cant see if all things still go on
but before it freezes there is nothing wrong,
you can just do things on normal speed
and it was on thursday, im whole day on school so the PC havent been on a lot that day
but, although  i would like to know more about PC's, i dont really care this time,
its getting repaired by ppl who do know something about it

Alright then. Still though, if the repair is taking that long, that is a little suspicious...
Good luck man. Hope it's resolved soon! :cop:

if it the computer just keep freezing then sorry to tell you, but you VideoCard is ruined, its either over heated or the fan might not be working probably. I had that problem, I haded to buy a new video card  so yea, you do need a new video card if its keep freezing every a min.
Title: Re: problems---inactive
Post by: Chief J. Schappell on March 11, 2009, 22:14:09 pm
Although it could be the card, that is unlikely at this point Andy. He said it didn't lag at all up until it locked up on him and froze.
Anyway, yes, heat will damage the card. Dust can also be a major issue for it.

A notice to all: Keep your computers clean and dust-free or I promise you that you will have problems in the future.
Title: Re: problems---inactive
Post by: Bianconeri on March 11, 2009, 22:38:59 pm
dust isnt the problem, my room is clear  ;)
the video, i dont hope so its a good card,
but the repairs takes a damn long time,
so who knows what they found for fault,
and maybe in the card
Title: Re: problems---inactive
Post by: Chief J. Schappell on March 11, 2009, 22:46:15 pm
No matter how clean your room is, there is always dust floating around. Because computer's use many fans in them, dusty air is constantly sucked in, and over time, it builds up. :)
Title: Re: problems---inactive
Post by: AndyF on March 11, 2009, 22:54:37 pm
don't forget that fans collects the dust  ;), and my video card was damaged because of dust and problems that was cause by the dust to my fan, which made the fan go slow that didn't let the video card cool down. Lets hope its fixed soon and I hope its not a problem with your video card, because video cards are kinda expansive

Thats not fine  :(
Title: Re: problems---inactive
Post by: Chief J. Schappell on March 13, 2009, 20:10:18 pm
Wtf? I think they are scamming you, because damaged hard disk drives can't be repaired, only replaced. If it really was broken, they'd do what they could to recover the data, back it up, and restore it to a new drive. I'd keep a close eye on them. That doesn't sound like a legit job to me...
Title: Re: problems---inactive
Post by: Bianconeri on March 14, 2009, 00:55:26 am
i dont know what is exactly wrong,
my mum was on phone and came to ask what i wanted to keep on harddisk stuff,
i know its broken and that it goes to a factory,
but i dont know what they will do there, as u say its impossible to repair,
then it probably is replacing

Strange that they need to send it away first, though. I'd understand if they did it right there at the repair shop, but all the way back in a German factory somewhere? That's suspicious...

Bian, choose another company.

sugarS you say to everybody that they scam you, youdid the same with my PC LOL.

Bian don't worry, my PC got send to the company in holland. The reason they do this is that there is a kind of big or a broken part that the company is responsible for and they need to fix it and give you garantie. They will say and make sure your harddrive us broken or not. Your PC man or woman will fix it or either the company itself. But this proces can take a while I know from own experience.

i dont believe them anyway eddie :P
and the shop where i bought it is specialised in PC's,
but it isnt a big shop,
they cant repair everything there,
and mostly all seriously broken PC's goes back to the factory

ODD,
Your new PC seems to be able to handle VISTA....
Maybe some virus detection system preventing you?
Must be some serious fault with your computer, hope it is fixed ASAP!!
Title: Re: problems---inactive

Lol you seem to have skipped a page. Apparently his "new" hard disk drive failed under suspicious circumstances.

Yea, I skimmed that!
I took in that info though, hope it is fixed.
"Suspicious"? - not too sure on that haha!
Sorry to ask, but what company did you send your PC off to and what company is your PC by?
Title: Re: problems---inactive
Post by: Bianconeri on March 19, 2009, 23:16:04 pm
bought at Compused Computers,
a local pc shop at my town,
probably not even dutchies will know it,
and its an Acer, didnt cause me much trouble yet,
it was mainly VISTA that made troubles

PC is gone for 2 weeks now, kinda sucks, i can handle it,
but it causes big lag attacks whenever im outside LS,
and even in LS im not safe, also makes my work as SAPD teacher harder,
since i cant do driving test
Title: Re: problems---inactive
Post by: ~Legend~ on March 22, 2009, 01:29:33 am
It's a pity, sorry.
Acer? I have a computer monitor/screen by Acer. It's very good actually. The shop you bought it from, did the Vista come installed or did you install? If not, where did you purchase Vista? Maybe you missed out a section in the install? Corrupt files?

goddamn this crappy PC...........
same problem is popping up again,
currently running in safe mode, i hope it will all come good on itself,
but else i will have to bring it away again

im able to use the laptop, but it is struggling to run GTASA,
so playing wont happen then, only being online a bit

**edit**
my PC died..... tried system restore,  but after it just black screen,
nothing works, so i have to bring PC to the store again,
i hope the shop can repair it themselves, but else it will have to go to the factory again, if so it will take probably 3 weeks

as mentioned before i still got my old PC, and our laptop
but both cant run sa smoothly, well my old PC did run smoothly when i played argo
on it a year ago, but last time it was very slow, and probably still wont be good

i hope i can get the old PC running smoothly, but i dont think it will
i will attend to meetings hopefully, but chases wont work

so have fun guys

I don't recommend playing games with wireless.
Title: Re: problems---inactive
Post by: Bianconeri on November 02, 2009, 09:20:16 am
we took wireless because of our laptop, so we could use internet on it also
and except that my PC doesnt supports WIFI,
i dont see anything bad with the wireless
it doesnt causes any trouble
Title: Re: problems---inactive
Post by: [R*]Austin on November 02, 2009, 10:09:10 am
It depends. Wireless is not fully trustable, because sometimes packages lose while being send. This doesnt matter when MSNing or writing a post like this, but with gaming its far more serious, and more annoying especially when it sometimes disconnects.

Its only my recommendation...
Title: Re: problems---inactive
Post by: Bianconeri on November 02, 2009, 15:26:59 pm
well i already play wireless for a while(half a year or more), and i never had any trouble with it
gaming goes fine
