Title: Tutorial: How to Install Vehicle Mods
Post by: Rabbit on June 10, 2009, 23:00:37 pm
How to install your newly acquired mod for San Andreas.

Special steps to take before installation:

If you are installing the mod to the SFPD, LVPD, or LSPD patrol vehicle, be sure the *.dff and *.txd are named correctly! Correct names below.

LSPD: copcarla.txd copcarla.dff

SFPD: copcarsf.txd copcarsf.dff

LVPD: copcarvg.txd copcarvg.dff

Police Ranger: copcarru.txd copcarru.dff

Step 1: Download WinRAR. (Most modifications come in *.rar form.)

WinRAR 3.90 - Installer (http://www.4shared.com/file/111050232/a704d688/wrar39b1.html)

Step 2: Download SAMI v1.1 (San Andreas Mod Installer - Easy to use interface.)

Step 3: Download your mod.

Step 4: Place *.txd and *.dff into a folder, preferably a new folder on you desktop for easy access.

Step 5: Open SAMI.

Step 6: Click "Install a Mod."

Step 9: Name your car something like "LA121" or "LV121" in case you need to reinstall the default mod.

lag is just a PC issue, your pc cant handle it,
at least i guess its that

and tutorials are good,

SAMI is a good tool, its really easy to use, even for a PC noob like me

I recommend to use 7-zip, supports more formats.

The lag is NOT a PC issue. GTA SA is not meant to stream high resolution textures. To resolve the issue I have found this mod which is very easy to install (It's literally download > place in folder > play the game.) Use this to make sure your game runs the models and textures fine.

I'd also suggest using IMGTool in place of SAMI. I've had nothing but bad experiences with SAMI, and IMGTool has never failed me.

IMGTool versus SAMI is all based on your preference. IMGTool failed me the other day when SAMI worked fine. For some reason, I'm beginning to think IMGTool becomes bugged when opening SAMI-modified archives...

100% agree with Alan. Apart from SAMI has always worked well for me.

There is also a tool called "Spark" wich replaces the files and rebuilds the arhive very fast.  ;)

Not a bad guide. I think the IMG tool is quite popular.
