Title: PURSUITS - Entering into a Chase after Responding - **IMPORTANT!!
Post by: RoryAnstruther on October 18, 2009, 05:40:50 am
before this is moved to the videos section, this isn't meant to be a comedy or parody video,
this is an actual problem I wanted to address that needs to be worked on, just added humor to keep people's attentions.

PURSUITS
Vital Information for ALL Units

One major problem we all have: Entering pursuits

All members of ARPD, and all freecops are highly urged to watch this video.
I added in some humor to keep your attention.

Enjoy

NOTE NOTE NOTE NOTE
In Scenario 2, A was in fact WRONG. The video failed to show because I did not film that segment on accident.
Basically what happens, is if you pull out imemdiately and take the far lane to get up to speed, you run the risk of the other units hitting you. They will have to swerve to miss you, and go around. If you stay out of the way, they won't have to worry about you at all.

PIT: Pursuit Imbolization Technique  :D

PIT: Pursuit Imbolization Technique  :D

Apparently it's called something different there, or there's many different meanings, because "Pursuit Intervention Technique" comes straight from the California P.O.S.T. (Peace Officers Standards and Training), the requirement to pass and achieve to become a Peace Officer in California :)

There is various words for P.I.T but they all have the same median meaning.

OOC: Rory for some reason you remind me of the narrator from the game "You Don't Know Jack" who also does Whacked Out Sports Videos lol

I advise DPD not to use common sense. DPD Rangers are very tough, so I advise, if city cops get in your way, drive over them. Besides. You can get some awesome crashes which are just theatrical to watch!

I would make my own video if Fraps didn't record in retarded colours!

Brilliant video. Hope they take your advice more than mine  . I answered most wrongly/ or had alternative answers.

When the suspect was coming at you, you said A was wrong, and after "let's see why"... You never showed us?

Nice video btw

yeah noticed that also Thomas,
also that A wasnt that wrong, if you speed up at the side lane they can still easily pass you and you will be in it directly also
but it can go wrong also, C will never go wrong

This is definately needed.  The ARPD lacks so much in driving, that it's not even funny.  Why do they lack in pursuits?  It's simple.  Yes, one answer would be due to people not having common sense, and the second answer would be due to the fact that everyone always wants to take point in a pursuit.  No one wants to be the second, third, or fourth unit.  If you can't get ahead safely, just maintain position, it's common sense.  It's about time the ARPD stepped up and focused alot more on the driving capabilities of it's officers in my opinion, as it's lacking extremely badly.

Nice posting their sheriff.

And if i see multiple units in pursuit of a suspect, and they are ramming each other( or someone is ramming any other cop) because "OMG LALZZZZ I WUN DAT SUPECT ThEN I R GUT AND GETZ PROMOTON!", then i will personally demote you.  :cop:

I love that vid, makes me laugh but its also realistic and it happens alot so...
When performing a PIT make sure no civilian vehicles are near and make sure you balance the lag of that suspect with the distance you go pass by him to perform the lag ram or PIT stop.

USE COMMON SENSE, and think about - We are a team, not individuals! -  :cop:

A was wrong, I noticed after I finished the video that I didn't film it. A meant that you flipped around immediately, C was waiting for the units to go passed first.

What you just said to do Bianconeri, has caused me to collide with units in a couple pursuits of mine. Stay OUT OF THE ROADWAY until ALL the units have passed by!!
