San Fierro Chronicle 24/01/08
San Fierro Police Department welcomed a new addition to its force in the appointment of the new Commander Declan O'Donoghue. O'Donoghue was formally appointed as SFPD Captain by the SA District Commander early on Wednesday morning and will commence work today. The task he is set is to improve the policing standards and build up a good force within 2 months. The following is an extract from the press conference:
"Good evening ladies and gentlemen. It gives me great pleasure to be assigned as the new Commander of this force. It is a wonderful city with great tourism prospects and culture and i will do what i can to help the different communities and cultures as best i can. My aim is to establish a police force focused on community policing rather than use the common methods of extortion and corruption from which we see from other forces in the news. The force will be run as democratic as possible, and i will welcome ideas from SF citizens and fellow SFPD policemen. I also aim to help the SF Tourism Board by placing some emphasis on bringing more tourists to the area. This will be a long term solution but hopefully our policing will attract more people to this great city. Sadly, i am not much of a speaker, so if you would like to ask any questions please feel free."
What do you mean by 'Community Policing'?
Community Policing follows the initiative of making the public feel safe in our presence. I would also like partnership with local businesses and i will encourage action between us and the citizens. In the future, we will organise events with the aim to bring more tourism to the area.
What are your recruiting methods?
I am strongly in favour of the Equal Opportunities Act and i strongly believe that everyone should have the opportunity to become a SFPD police officer. But also, i must follow guidelines set by the SA Policing Partnership which states that no one involved in a criminal organisation can apply.
How will officers be trained?
I am in the process of making a detailed police guide related to SFPD policing and, although it will take some time to complete, in the long term it will be useful as all officers will be encouraged to use it as much as possible.
What about disciplinary for officers?
I feel strongly that an officer should act responsibly both on and off duty. I will encourage the public to notify me of innappropriate actions so i can act. The guide will also have rules, if i find any officer who breaks any of the rules i set out, this will lead to a formal warning, a suspension, and than they will be relieved of their duties.
Are there any promotional opportunities for officers?
Yes, i will try and implement a points system whereby all officers will only get promoted if they log all cases through the forums. They will then get internal ranks such as Lieutenant and Sergeant.
((Any more questions or anything please say so))
:ps: 3 Officers are getting SFPD status to help out from the start. As for recruitment, it will be officially open when i complete the training guide which will take some time. Please dont expect replies to your applications until the guide is finished as i will be busy
