LSPD || Rules of Engagement & Weapon Guidelines
« on: May 27, 2020, 11:23:19 am »

Los Santos Police Department
Rules of Engagement & Weapons Guidelines

The following guidelines are here to enforce Chief Stodds vision that 1. LSPD should become the best RP group and 2. LSPD members are to be respected, valued members of the wider Argonath community.

LSPD Officers are required to abide by the following guidelines and rules.

Rules of Engagement

1. LSPD does not fire first with lethal weapons.

2. Lethal weapons are only to be used:
a) If suspect is actively shooting at officers
b) If suspect does not comply after being repeatedly tasered
c) If suspect does not comply after considerable warning that you will use deadly force
d) To disable suspects vehicle or tyres if they are evading

3. Lethal weapons are NOT to be used:
a) If suspect is standing still (typing)
b) If suspect has weapon out and is not shooting

4. Taser is only to be used:
a) To defend yourself and others in lethal and non-lethal situations
b) If suspect does not comply after several warnings
c) If suspect is evading
d) To get suspect out of vehicle

5. Driveby is allowed when:
a) Suspects are in vehicle and are shooting
b) Suspect has vehicle faster than PD patrol vehicle
c) Warning has been given that you will open fire (/m)
d) Suspect is evading on foot - taser only
e) Suspect is on foot and opening fire on your vehicle.
d) Permission given from ranking officer (Senior Officer+), e.g. if the pursuit has gone on for a long time, or suspects are declared armed and dangerous.

6. Exceptions to the above rules:
a) With permission by Senior Officer+ or highest ranking available at their discretion, lethal force can be permitted to Officers if the situation requires.
b) If suspects are reported armed and dangerous and have already shot at officer. A shoot on site protocal may be given by Senior Officer+ or highest ranking available.

7. No returning after death unless you have permission from the suspect player

8. No resuspecting after a suspect escapes, unless you have permission from the suspect player

9. Notes

Some of these rules may give a slight disadvantage in shootouts with criminals. The objective and vision of LSPD is to become the best RP group and not the most efficient killers. These rules are designed so that criminals have no reason to complain if they are killed. We will be very accomodating to criminals to use deadly force as a last resort. There will be training and scenarios where LSPD does need to be effective in killing suspects as efficiently as possible - but this will be with permission only as the situation requires.

If officers become too comfortable with using deadly force on all criminals it will ultimately disable future RP with criminals and civilians, so please take these guidelines seriously.

Weapons Guidelines

Sergeants+ Can equip officers with the following weapons at their discretion:

Patrol weapons:
These may be given to Freecop+ for normal patrol without limitation

  • Pump Shotgun
  • Revolver

Heavy weapons:
These may be given to Officer+ for heavily armed suspects with permission to use heavy weapons required by Senior Officer+

  • M4
  • Heavy Shotgun
  • Sniper (permission to shoot required, special operations and air units only)

Special Weapons:
For tactical training and special events only. Permission required as with heavy weapons.
  • Special Carbine
  • SMG
  • Assault Shotgun

Clarification; these also apply for driveby as well? What I mean is, if we know suspect is unarmed but evading.
