Speed limits
« on: February 05, 2008, 12:52:56 pm »
Speed limits:

Urban zone1: 80 km/h
Suburban zone2: ?
Highways: 120 km/h
Freeways: unlimited

Towing - urban zone: ?
Towing - suburban zone: ?

Information from the SAPD Trainings: Driving topic.

My question is: Do we need other limits for conditions other than streets and highways, and if yes - what will be the official limits?

Signed,
   Officer Grzesiek.

Whats a Highway again? I think many people who don't have highways/freeways in their country will not understand.

As for the actual limits, you can hit 80 without even a second thought. I pull over for 125 km/h, personally.

I thought freeways were like motorways like the road around LV. I thought highways were like the main road running through SF. I have no clue.

In my opinion, we do not need limits for such special roads, 80 km/h is acceptable for roads that or not freeways or highways.

I like the idea, but there would need to be some way of letting players know the speed limit. It shouldn't be a suspectable offence. For this reason, excessive speeding (on a judgement of the officer) should be classed as dangerous driving, so are loads of speeding rules necasary?

Here is my logic, that would apply if I was on duty.

Highway/freeway - Fast= ok   , as long as not in breach of other driving offences

Suburban areas/Urban/ Countryside - as fast as can be controlled. If they are crashing everywhere, then they are going too fast.

I'm a little skeptical on the topic of speed limits. If I see a person driving really fast, I usually don't chase them for it, but I will follow them to find a reason for reckless driving and then add the speeding charge on top of that.
