[READ] Radio Communication Rules! (SAPD & ARPD)
« on: July 26, 2011, 23:54:58 pm »

San Andreas Police Department
Radio Communication Rules

Here-by I want to clear up the radio rules which are in charge for a longer time but seems to be forgotten about - also the higher command staff did not strongly enforce this for an amount of time.

Although as Academy Chief, I am trying to teach cadets to work with the radio properly but most of the units seem to forget about it, therefor the rules are being enlighted and going to be watched on again by the SAPD Command Staff

- Only use the radio for Police Radio purposes only!
- Police Radio is a Police Radio not a Police Chat, please be clearly and do send your message in several lines!
- To avoid confusion and non-professionality, smilies are not allowed in the Police Radio (never been, but rarely enforced recently).

This are 3 main basic rules for the radio, to keep it clear and professional - so everyone can work effectively together! Failure to follow the Radio rules can result in punishment since this are basics taught in your Academy time.

Just to touch on this, this actually applies for all PD's as well. Random chat has never been allowed in any of them. To expand it even further, the same rules apply on the Emergency Radio as the Police one. No one should be chatting on the radios, and please remember to respect each other when using them.

Affirm. I do try as much as I can to enforce this on /e with fire department. However in game I really have no authority so in advanced I would like to say sorry for volunteer chatter on /e. I also do try and keep most of our chatter on our designated channel however occasionally we get someone who won't listen to use /r.  However don't look at our designated channel it's full of random chatter:lol:

Once the new ARFD Academy is completely, I will be noting in there that it won't be happening anymore, and it will be enforced against.

Unless you use "?" as a smiley it is allowed, it's to prevent the chatter and "?" is a question.

Codes are meant to be typed when in emergency, try to make your communication more new-player friendly

Lol screw new players!

This is why I am a firefighter and not a Law Enforcement officer.
Fire department uses plain English.
/e Engine 1-22 responding to Red Rock fire Scene code 3 continue additional resources.
And yes I don't type E1-22 if you have seen me online I type Engine.

Actually ARPD has always enforced using codes unless there isn't a word for what is being used. Only just in the last year have people began slacking heavily on that and promoting plain text.

I would say that codes were designed to help us make speedy transmissions...we were not created to blindly use radio codes.
It is good in some ways that we use codes, but plain English should be enough. The main point is to keep professional over the police radio.

Members of the San Andreas Police Department, take a good look on the detailed information of the topic. We will not hesitate to give punishments for constant off discussion chat on the Police Radio when not necessary.

You have been warned.

Indeed, Codes were invented to have fast communication, However if you have a partner, you can indeed go more New-Playerfriendly reporting on the radio.
Also they were putted in for Roleplay reasons, There is nothing more Roleplayly than a cop using codes just like in real life.

You can turn sentences into a chain of Numbers, Wich confuse New Cops. For you SAPD Members it doesn't look confusing, Since you know what each code stands for (Atleast you should).

Ex.:

New-Playerfriendly: This is Unit-7, Responding with light and siren to heavy shoot out at Corleone HQ; ETA: 1 Min.

SAPD (How SAPD Would report it): This is U7, 10-76 C30 CMHQ C3, 10-84 1 min.

Imagine you as a total new cop reading this ^
Taking a toy from a boy which he doesn't like as punishment.
Is not punishing him, but pleasing him.

My everyday fun lies here. :)
