No response to backup
« on: March 09, 2008, 06:26:54 am »

Hello, I am not an accepted cadet (yet, but i hope i do get accepted). I play as a free cop, waiting to be accepted into the police community, and everytime I call for backup, Guess what, no one comes.

I'm being shot at and nobody comes until its all over.
I have an Idea for this, they are called partners, get a partner to patroll with you and if you call back up, like me you would want someone to respond to the back up call so we have to respond to back up calls.

Thanks for reading this,

Officer pageboy123  :cop:
I have returned to the Federal Bureau of Investigation. And I am staying!

It seems lately that this has been happening a lot. It's very unfortunate and we really need to work on it. Do you use Teamspeak for police radio? Using Teamspeak greatly increases police cooperation when somebody might be too busy with other matters to be reading the onscreen text. About the partners: Yes, having a partner does make for quite an advantage over criminals and needs to be utilized more often.

Alan, you are right, but sometimes people (and by people I mean officers) do not respond to the calls. Here is what happend to me once. I was patroling Willowfield alone (because everybody had a partner and there was none for me) and I met a group of like 15 vagos. I called for backup immediately Both in ingame radio and on TS. I waited for like 3-4 minutes, called for backup like 15 times - no one. Then I went to the gangsters alone and I got killed. What more can I say - some officers just don't do anything (there were no suspects ingame ... ).

It all depends on the officers online and who are available... Yes, it can happen sometimes that other officers are busy. But have patience...

And Legend it wasnt too smart to go in your own against 15 people... You should stay low

Thanks Car :)

I totaly agree with Austin_Powers! U can also patrol 3 instead of 2 if it's needed. Dont go alone, There have been to much kidnapping and deaths because u go alone on Patrol. Also remeber when u patroling alone keep u eyes open at all directions and always think for u own safety!

Yes always patrol with somebody. When I'm alone on patrol sometimes I have gunfire with suspects. And what to do, take a COVER and wait for backup. Not only like Rambo style on open range shot on them, because it will be deadly for u.

It's very difficult to get backup or even a partner during certain hours. I recommend that you patrol with at least one person (if possible), do not exit your vehicle around large crowds, and avoid any situations you cannot handle. Officer Safety is a top-priority in SAPD, and as you are on your way to becoming an officer, you should make the above recommendations part of your routine. As you gain knowledge throughout your time as a cadet and an officer, you will learn numerous ways to protect yourself on the streets.

This is happening alot latest weeks, the call has to be made couple of times before someone actually responds. May I get you show you the following part of the Consitution,

Section III: Criminal Law

Act XIII.VI: Any person who is in duty is required to provide necessary assistance if possible. Any person who will not accomplish their duties and who will not have decent reasons for not accomplishing those duties can see their rights to law enforcement revoked by this court or by their chiefs.

Indeed you'll have to use comon sense, don't go by your own to a suspect. But still, if backup call is announced, backup should be provided by the nearby units ASAP.
"For a combat soldier, the difference between success and failure is your ability to adapt to your enemy. The people that I deal with, they don’t care about your rules. All they care about is results. My job is to stop them from accomplishing their objectives. I simply adapted. In answer to your question, am I above the law? No, sir."

The law states clearly, if you fail to provide back up without an equally good reason, your law enforcer rights will be revoked for a certain time period. Also please don't bump three year old topics..
