In the 1600's the word was used to describe slaves coming from Africa. Black people were not called by their names, they were all "nigger" and treated with no respect by white people. By the time the 1800's rolled around it was more frowned upon to use and colored people was more common (though the word has been in use and is still today). The fact that historically white people have used the word in negative ways is likely why it seems to be more of an issue when white people say it now.

To clarify about the usage of the word "nigger" or derivatives: Depending on the receiving end it can be interpreted as an insult,
It is usually not recommended to use the word at all since of the risk of being understood as offensive, or racist; as what has happened here.

Second: To the officer who got reported;
Can you tell me why you felt the need to use offensive language (and a threat of sexual harassment) to have a suspect comply to your command?

And to both again: The report also mentions vehicular assault, could each of you expand upon this as well? As you were both concerned about the verbal offense instead.

STATEMENT IN REGARDS TO THE CLOSURE OF THIS REPORT

On the 23th of March, 2014, at 09:41, a report was submitted by Gmail as a lawful citizen of the United States of Argonath.
Since then, an investigation has been conducted by the SAPD command staff member:
- Sergeant Leon Arallian

The summary and conclusion of the report has now been decided and will be released to the public.

-- The language that was used by the officer was interpreted as racism.
-- The officer has been noticed threatening the citizen to listen or to be harassed sexually.

Additional notes:
The officer had explained the vehicular assault to me and demonstrated it under my supervision.

-- In conclusion, the accused officer will receive/has received a warning for the usage of offensive language, and has been notified to prevent the usage of such in the future.

If the verdict of this report seems unfair to anyone, you can report this to a Deputy Chief via the ARPD Forum PM and we might reopen the case if your argument is valid enough.
