ARPD Pilots
« on: July 25, 2007, 17:14:57 pm »
Hey fellow ARPD,
I was wonderin whether ARPD would make an ARPD Pilot faction. it doesnt necassarily have to have a HQ, however a forum membergroup perhaps?

Anyway, this would promote the strategic use of Police Maverics for air visual support and rescue missions. The problem is - many police dont know how to RP a pilot. Although, it is the Co-pilot who does most RPing, telling the pilot where to go, repsonding to calls etc. Most police RPers wouldnt even consider a co-pilot, however I usually have dan_lcfc as mine, and it works to great success.
It would also an add an extra dimension to teamspeak, as pilots will have their own callsigns and radio chatter :P

But hey, I would like to see what you people think. i think its a good idea, as helicopters are not used as much as they should be (due to the /m and no car bonus bugs) and they dont pay as well, but they are fun and good in RP situations.

Regards,
Long time cadet Jcstodds :P   :)

There will be a license for pilots in next scripts, so I think that should do enough...

I agree with Jc, but i go further.
Thats very annoying when the suspects get a heli or a plane and the cops cant stop them.
So I say we need such ARPD Air unit, which is able to use the Hunters, Hydras (legal) against
the "flying suspects" .

:ps: And it would be good role-play to training ARPD pilots

What's this pilot shizzle? Are we going to start classing our members of the ARPD on vehicles rather than police departments? Are we going to start having a police bike, police car, SWAT van and an FBI rancher group?

If you want to go and fly helicopters then that's fine but there is no need to make a big deal about it. ;)

Nothing personal man it's a good idea it just seems a bit pointless.

Trojan, police pilots do not work in the way regular police people do.

There is FBI, they have their own vehicles, that doesnt necassarily mean FBI is a seperate group because they have their own vehicle does it? You could say they ARE classed on their vhicles, because each division has their own vehicle except for the helicopter, which is universal atm.

The way I see a Police air unit working best is the one that covers jurisdictions, each division has its region.

However the mobilty of an air unit being constrained by those jurisdictions is not helpful.

I see the possiblity of air units being based around the map much like currently, but with full map jurisdiction this would allow for cross division chase work.

Only issue is TS as the pilots need to quickly communicate to whatever division they are flying over.

A good co-pilot shouild cover all aspects of communications so the pilot can concentrate on flying safely and swiftly.

Thats a very valid point which makes helicopter work even more important as both the pilot and co-pilot need to confident in each others ability.

i agree in the idea but like a few of the other comments

you need a good copilot
you need other flying options like hydra or hunter

as it stands its quite pointless flying a chopper other than transport
to hard to type and fly...

I dont think, therefor I am not...
