Drivers who dont pay fines/wont pay
« on: February 05, 2009, 21:13:20 pm »
i think we should have a law where we have the right to impound there car and prevent them from driving until payment is made as me as atp trainee trooper has seen a lot of speeders get away with warnings etc when ive been passing other patrols but as im satp trainee trooper i will sometimes warn them but as soon as they say they wont pay we should punish them to the limit of the law.

In such situations I usually give them a choice between a fine or prison, or  just give them a warning...   Ihave impounded peoples cars before into LSPD and told them they must pay $50 if they want it back... but I dont think there needs to be a law for such things...  no point...

Impounding cars would work great in RS4 with the gates at LSPD garage preventing the owners or others to get to them.  ;)

Yes. Tow trucks could come into use as well and this promotes even more RP!

I understand what you are saying,
if we stricten the law on it, it may change some people's attitude towards the game. They may think it's too strict and rule abiding.
It makes the game slightly slower if you tighten this law.  It's good practice for ARPD to have a high speed chase once in a while!  :D
But I understand what you mean, you will just have to suspect and call for back up.
And after many warnings if they still refuse to stop, causing danger to other civilians on the road, you can take them out. I suppose this is fair. Increasing the law maybe going a bit too far. We all need a bit of fun sometimes, that's why we have cars like the cheetah and the infernus!!

Umm...dude? It IS a law. What is being suggested is a new form of enforcing the law that already exists...

without speeding it will get boring indeed,
but its a RP server, so you will have to follow speedlimits,
or receive punishment

Yes I know it is actually a Law, what I meant is tightening the law.
It's RP, so speeders must be there! We can't take them out completely. As there is the suspect option, this law should still be secure.

We aren't tightening the law at all. Once again, this is only a suggestion for a new way of enforcing it, not preventing it.

As it is a RPG server speeders should still be fined, but we can't "ban" them from speeding (well you can in a RP fashion), if you understand my point.

Be careful. There are legal minimum, maximum, and in some cases, exact fine amounts that you must follow.

Where did you get the idea of "banning" them? You're still missing the point. We ARE still fining them. The original poster is only suggesting a new method for doing so.

No, that's what I said, we don't BAN them from the server etc. In RP we can't make it a rule that they can NEVER speed. But it's a rule that if they speed, we are allowed to issue them with fines and warnings.
You see, we can't take speeding out of the game (I know that is not what this topic is about, but i am reffering to my posts). I am sorry if one of my previous posts indicated that I was talking about preventing speeding. I only ment we can't tighten the law too much as it may spoil our fun! ARPD always needs a job!

It makes it more enjoyable if we have a chance to catch the suspected. If they don't pay the fine, you can call for back up and !sus them. If you force it that they must pay the fine, ARPD's job gets a bit more dull as we don't always get criminals to chase after, therefore we can pursue speeders. It makes it more interesting as there is more to do.
