minirant about radio communication
« on: September 24, 2009, 20:42:55 pm »
Radio communication should be a f**king norm in this department or something. I asked many times for the 10-20 of a 207 RED and got NO response at all. This is not the first time this has happened. There are no f**king dispatchers, no persons to inform the ARPD..... Radio communication is pure shit and every time I ask something on the police radio I get no response. That just pisses me off and ends up with me doing /q or me getting kicked.

I had a long thread discussing a few problems with the ARPD, and that was one of the subjects.  The thread can be found here.
--------------------

However, I completely agree with you.  Radio communications are way too poor, and part of the problem has to do with the fact that we have ordinary citizens who can simply go on duty, without having any knowledge of the appropriate conduct and/or codes whatsoever.  Also, we have many people who are just too lazy to respond to a call.  How are we going to fix these issues, is another story.  Part of it could be not allowing any citizen to go an active duty without first reading the laws, procedures and codes of te ARPD.  However, we know for a fact that type of system won't be implemented.

I didn't take screenies but I saw Thomas Crof suspect shitloads of people for kidnapping (protocol). When I asked where the 207 was I got absolutely no response.

Ironically, the only responses I get are from free officers so they're not a problem.

Any chance you remember how many officers were on? The only reasonable excuse I can think of is that the chat was being flooded by "KIDNAPPER1: LOLOLOLEWE GOET HIM" "KIDNAPPER2: YEA PAY PIGZ NOW" "KIDNAPPER3: LOL U HERD HIM" for Thomas.

As far as I can remember there were at least 15 officers on at the time, not to mention many free officers.

I always try to promote radio communication whenever on server and I always report everything when in the middle of a situation, but I see that only a few are doing as me.

How about something that could improve that and make officers and cadets communicate more, as this is what is behind such police roleplay in Grand-Theft-Auto, not just driving and shooting.

Well Thomas might've been the victim and they took his radio...

Look sharp, act sharp, be sharp. These guys comin' out of prison - they're buff, been on drugs. You do what they teach you in the academy, you will die. Knucklehead wants to take your gun, so if it's you or some 300-pound naked guy on PCP, you take his ass down any way you can - you ride with me, you back your badge.

Oliver & Fredrik if communication from cops is so bad why do not you try and do more than moan about it and help those that dont know what its about.

YES it is a SAPD reaponsibility and that means ALL including cadets upwards to help each other and those that also freecops.

Do not forget we have TWO methods of communication, the text radio and TS.  A good partnership is both TS users with one willing to transfer any important matters from TS to text radio.  Anyone who knew me when I was an SF Air Unit will know how well that worked.

Yes WE need to get better, but moaning and putting forum entry will not solve it, solve it IN GAME

Oliver... I suspected the kidnappers kidnapping officer Brokman. I went there as negociator, and suspected the kidnappers. I was too busy with negociating and giving info to SWAT to pay attention to /r. I admit there were many officers there, but the 207 was blue and I think it was even code 4 because there were already many cops...

then REPORT the code 4 ffs... Even if you're busy someone should handle the radio communication...

Apparently you havn't had the chance to see the many Cadets and Free Officers I have trained in the past.  Also, I usually change from using codes to plain English in the scenario that I don't get any responce.  Thus also being a form of "training" officers in using the necessary codes.
