Multiple Threat Alert Center (MTAC) - Criminal database
« on: March 02, 2010, 00:38:01 am »
MTAC Database

Per the request of CBF im posting this on arpd forums :)

Multiple Threat Alert Center (MTAC) provides indications and warning for a wide range of threats to law enforcement personnel and assets around the world.
MTAC utilizes it's worldwide presence and combination of law enforcement, counterintelligence, intelligence and security capabilities to identify all available threat indicators. Analysts, special agents, and military personnel work in the MTAC around the clock to produce indications and warning of possible terrorist activity, foreign intelligence threats and criminal threats that may affect government, MTAC, FBI, and other law enforcement operations.
MTAC epitomizes the multi-faceted nature of law enforcement agencies missions by linking terrorism, counterintelligence, intelligence, cyber, criminal, and security information. MTAC is a unique platform in that it merges intelligence from other agencies with information from it's own source networks and law enforcement activities worldwide to provide the most relevant operational support.

Example

A Investigation is launched on a member of argonath, yet little is known of the person, depending on the persons assessment, the ARPD may access the MTAC database for a detailed list of previous crimes, notes on the individual, known aliases etc. etc.

Clearance will not be given to anyone with:
-Known Association, or member of criminal organization
-Level 2 or higher risk assessment
-no Argonath citizenship status

Level 1 Clearance:

1. Complete a Security Clearance
-Your Form Will be denied if
-You have a criminal record in the database above level 1
-You Lie on any questions asked (extensive background checks will be performed)

2.You Obtain one of the following
-ARPD Cadet rank or higher
-FBI Cadet rank or higher
-MTAC Internship (info upon request from director)

Level 2 Clearance:
-ARPD Officer rank or higher
-MTAC Membership/Administration

Level 3 Clearance:
-ARPD Sgt rank or higher

Level 4 Clearance:
-ARPD LT. rank or higher
-FBI Director rank
-MTAC Operator rank
-Government Official

Clearance exceptions are made for certain people after extensive background checks.

Clearance will be REVOKED If:
-MTAC user reveals information to anyone with lower clearance level or no clearance level.
-MTAC user receives a file with a risk assesment of 2 or higher.
-MTAC user is involved in a criminal investigation.

It's a great idea to take these groups databases into a large scale ARPD databse, but I see many issues of keeping this well maintained, giving/taking access from those who need it/don't need it.

Good luck though!

Sounds like a lot of boring work. Also will fail if players take on multiple RP roles.

Edit. I can't help think this will fail, like all similar ideas, due to lack of interest and commitment. Good idea... but will it last? I only say this from similar past projects.

All the best of luck with it though.

well you didn't want to help :P
but yes i intend on making it last the longest i can

Also this will mainly cover known criminal groups and drug dealers etc.
if the severity of the crime is big enough to be put into the db, it will be added but under name it will state the rp name of which that person commited the crime to clarify the confusion between such isntances.
For Example, you have a level 4 File JCS, but it's clearly noted that it's while your rping a scientist ^^
as i said theres exceptions to some rules.

It's a great idea to take these groups databases into a large scale ARPD databse, but I see many issues of keeping this well maintained, giving/taking access from those who need it/don't need it.

I Agree
but with that said, im urging everyone with access to the databse to help keep the profiles already in there up to date, while users can't create new topics, they can however respond to the files there already.
If a User wishes toa dd a file they merely should contact a operator or the director for it to be added.

Can this be down without script support ?
Of Course, i've already started it without script support, as i said though, while i will do all i can to keep this afloat and open, im hoping for help on keeping it as close to accurate as i can with the help of arpd fbi etc.
It's a forum based database, each topic is dedicated to a single person, including basic info, known aliases, names, crimes commited etc.
It will also hold information whether they where rping someone different at the time.

Such as JCS, he rps a mad scientist, while his file is classified at level 4 because of that, it clearly states that he is playing the part of a different persona.
While it won't be 100% accurate 100% of the time, i ittend to keep it as accurate as possible.

The idea is that the FBI and ARPD can access certain files through a 'national' database such as you would be able to IRL depending on your security clearance. I Also don't intend to record every crime every player has committed, but those of well known criminals and repeat offenders along with those known to be apart, or associated with criminal organizations.

My Future plans for this is to incorporate VCMP into this as well, though im unsure as to how i will do this at the time.

I currently have such a system planned. It won't be relying on third party scripts such as SMF, phpbb, vbulletin. It will be made from scratch PHP, HTML, and javascript.

The system is planned similarly to yours. I already have a VPN with sub domain features. Each department has their own subdomain, but has the options to link with other departments. The problem is this: This guy wants money. And I have  a feeling its gonna be quite a lot. I make 120 dollars a month. Once I am done with the plans, I will have this guy examine it and come up with a price. I hope it is not much.

Reminds me of the SACS Database.
Except SACS' does not use SMF for the Database, only for member access.

It Kinda fell through a bit, getting back on top of it and linking it with SecNav
The new MTAC will only hold files on the Marine Corp most wanted and criminal cases.
We still welcome ARPD to aquire security clearance as this will help coordinate us with law enforcement.
