The LAPD have less Ranks than the NYPD, probably because it has around 25,000 less personnel.
The SAPD doesn't really have enough members to assign to the ranks of Commander, Assistant Chief etc.
Theoretically they could if they wanted to make each PD a precinct within SAPD, which actually would make more sense, but it would require a few changes within the system.

That ranking structure would not work on the server simply because the player base is not large enough. If the server had a player base of 300+ it may work, but sadly that is not the case. As you know the SASD moved servers and the rank structure in the SASD works as follows.

High Command:
Sheriff
Under Sheriff
Assistant Sheriff
Commander

Low Command:
Captain:

Supervisors
Lieutenant:
Seargent:
Deputy

It works extremely well.

This is not SASD and we are not county cops, we have some city cops, I don't like those ranks.

Yea, I have to go agree with the above posts.

It would be absolutely epic to have some shiny new ranks, but they mustn't go to waste.
There will have to be deserving people in the first place to take up these positions and use them to better ARPD.

Hopefully the current system already accounts for that.

While it might be true that we are not SASD, DPD actually are county police. Secondly, please be nice. If you don't like the idea, it's fine, but there's no need to be rude.

Seeing that ARPD is finally stretching it's limits on it's capabilities, I have a suggestion. What if, assuming ARPD itself is left untouched, we form a secondary law enforcement policing agency called ARSD? This would cover county usage, and make DPD's job a hell of alot easier because they would only need to focus on Dillimore and the surrounding areas. We know in-game that there are other department stations for Sheriff's, so why not? Furthermore, seeing how FBI is somewhat split from ARPD now, why not keep all 3 as separate, but combined agencies that work under a "Department Of Justice"? This could be led by what we currently refer to as ARPD Leadership, and even from within this we could create an unbiased Internal Affairs which is fair and contains people from each agency, as well as outside the 3 agencies. This would prevent multiple future issues, reduce the amount of officer's being stretched thin in coverage, and could easily be expanded to the other servers as well, thus creating more opportunities for roleplay. Because they would all be organized under the DoJ, they would also have their laws, rules, procedures, etc. posted there for all of them to follow, but also allowing specific agencies to have specific policies only geared toward them as needed to control crime. Through the DoJ cooperation could be done, and if necessary, forced if fighting arises. For the most part this would not cause any largescale issues with ARPD, and might even attract more players to the unique ideas such as County Sheriff roleplays, (which obviously seemed to work well in the past for SASD as a group. I'm not saying copying them, but players did tend to appreciate the diversity in choices of roleplay, and after all, we are a world of our own).

Sugar, where would you get the command staff for such a department? You can't trust most people here with power higher than /su and /jail. The people you can trust are already in the command staff in different departments.

If the FBI was replaced with a Detective Bureau of the SAPD/VCPD, maybe we could add the Rank of Detective and replace the FBI Directors with some more Commanders and Deputy Chief's

You want to replace an entire organization and conjoin it to another? The FBI have their own kind of RP as does the SAPD. The SAPD have UC Officers and so on aswell.

The ranks are honestly fine the way they are right now. We don't have enough staff to do such a large and pointless revamp of the rank system.

True. It's just an idea, which would obviously take planning if such were to happen. I just thought I'd throw it out there.

You could have Detectives without removing FBI. FBI has a different focus anyway. Detectives may look into similar things on a local scale, but FBI is covering things in a much larger way.

Isn't it just

I'm one in RL, and it just means all the more senior NCO's tell you what to do, and everyone else asks you lots of questions...not such a great rank

Correction, it is a police rank. Sorry to be awkward, but Brazil have a corporal rank in the police, as do:

- Canada
- Japan
- Malaysia
- Philippines (kind of)
- Singapore
- Spain
- Thailand

I know what you mean though. Most countries which hold police NCO ranks skip the Corporal rank and go straight to Sergeant (if they use that system).

Even though I do not support the idea myself, saying that it is a military rank is irrelevant. We are the ARPD, not the LAPD in America, nor the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (no guesses where they're from!). This means we can have our own ranks, even if they do not match up to ranks in countries around the world.

I still don't support the idea of changing our ranks though

There is no need to a mass of new ranks, we dont have enough staff...
The LAPD have less Ranks than the NYPD, probably because it has around 25,000 less personnel.
The SAPD doesn't really have enough members to assign to the ranks of Commander, Assistant Chief etc.

I explained it better :D

tl;dr....joking :P

CBF's sums it up the best to be honest, most people don't need to read the longer post (yours), as the shorter post (CBF) would have made them compare PD's anyway :D

Just for further reference, ARPD is mainly based off the LAPD. That's where most of their codes, laws, and ranks come from.
