Training Idea: Cop RP
« on: July 12, 2008, 11:01:25 am »

I have taken this quote from the Argonath forum:
Regarding the jail time, when a suspect is jailed, ostly the play is kind of ended. (I do not see a lot of guys bringing the jailed food and drinks), which makes it kind of boringto stay in jail for a long time. If you are a good RPers you can take the suspect in and question him inside the PD before jailing. No need to add 'prison commands' to that.

It highlighted, to me the lack of RP undertaken whilst in the police department. With the exception of a few, such as John_Lob, I have witnessed no 'real' police work whilst being detained. No jail interaction, no investigation, very little RP. Of course in some situations it is understanding if the criminal is /jailed as soon as they walk into the DPD (cadets/ free cops mainly, or if there are very many about to prevent jail theft). I have witnessed this poor RP from some ARPD, but in general- they need to be trained in office duties and police protocol when dealing with crime, but more specifically, trained in roleplay- because members in ARPD should be these "good RPers" that gandalf described.

Its one reason I no longer do training or testing, its one area I not that good in, I sort of just do it at hte time, can't make it up in advance.

It's not hard to roleplay before jailing.... I'll show my proccess here....

Step 1: Take the suspect to a PD that you are sure there won't be any freecops or cadets to steal arrest and things like that.
Step 2: Take him to the proccessing rooms or the LSPD interior main desk, and turn the computer on, ask him if he has a lawyer, and if so, to call him.
Step 3: Ask him his full name ( You can also ask for his ID card / passport ) then type it in the computer and search for earlier crime files (( Ask him OOCly if he had commited any crime before with that name. ))
Step 4: Add a new crime file. Ask him to tell his version of the story. Gather the versions of all the witnesses / suspects. Type the stories in the computer (( I strongly recommend to take a screenshot of what the suspect says via F8, in the case of further complaints. ))
Step 5: Fill in the other fields, such as his address, age, etc. ( You can search them in the suspect's ID card / passport ).
Step 6: Print the files, and uncuff the suspects, and tell them to sign the papers.
Step 7: Go to the locker room, and take out a small size box, and ask the suspect to put all valuable objects in that box, such as his watch, dogtags, glasses. It is very recommended to put the suspect's cellphone in the box also.
Step 8: Take him to the cell ( You can use the cell keys or your cell card ). Lock the cell, and if there is more than one person jailed, stay inside the PD until one of them are released.
Step 9: When you close the cell, tell the prisoner that he will probably be released or not, depends on the CourtHouse's word. Examples: " Good luck, you will need it at the Court " ; " Your lawyer is trying to bail you, if he manages it, you will be released soon. " ( Both are for long jail times ). " Seems your lawyer bailed you, you will be released soon. " ( Recommended for short jail times )

NOTE: It is also recommended to read the ARPD/SAPD guide, there it has some recommended jail sentences for detailed crimes.

Additional steps:

Step 1: If the suspect has a lawyer, and when he arrives, he will probably ask you many things and he will do everything to avoid his suspect to get jailed. You will have to take those questions using your RP and intelligence.
Step 2: If the suspect is very hurt, it's suggested to take him to a hospital first, then you can jail him.
Step 3: If you jail the suspect for a long time, give him something, like some water, or a bread, etc.
Step 4: If the suspect accuses you for injuring him inside the PD, request a body exam to check how those injuries have been provoked.

WARNING: I recommend to NOT accept bribes even if the suspect offers you $10.000,00; Accepting bribes is sometimes good to RP but that doesn't means you won't be a corrupt officer.

WARNING: DO NOT (get caught) accept(ing) bribes, even if the suspect offers you $10.000,00; Accepting bribes makes yourself a corrupt copvery rich and it can delay in your career  make your career suck less.

Great guide right there! (Although corrected a bit)

But if you cant be arsed to do all that, there are various ways of processing criminals, as long as its RP- its all good. No one likes robot police dishing out the same shit over and over again! RP the cop you want! If you would rather dump a criminal in the ocean than jail them.... whats wrong with that? Have some fun, its not about the money, I will personally pay any police who helped catch criminal, or help with RP. So if you have a new creative way of dealing with criminals, drag me along and chances are you will earn more than you would for jailing...

RP is good(its still RP server)
but all this step is too long, why???

because of the cadets/freecops, in all that time there will be some freecops/cadets at the place and with that it is possible that they steal the jail and ruin the RP,

like i told before:
we need something that only the guy who got the sus can jail the sus

and that RP at jailing time:
for me it doesnt really work, i always give short jailing time(except for big crimes, but thats not much times)
so before you get some food from somewhere the sus will be free again

I am NOT saying that all the SAPD needs to do the same steps as I wrote!!! This is a SUGGESTION!!!

i know john, no need to get mad,
but all ARPD cops should do more RP, maybe not the way you told(it isnt bad anyway) but at least do some part of it when possible,

i only say some freecops, and maybe also cadets(and very small change on officer) are ruining it by the stealing jail of others

We can't really stop Jail stealing Can we? Unless an Admin does something about it, or it becomes a Rule.

I try and RP Jailing a Suspect but not in the way John wrote it in the Guide there, i'd Book him in and That then escort him to the Cell Area and Jail him but i've had a few Moments when trying to RP Jailing someone Cadets/Freecops would come in and Jail him and it'd ruin the whole thing.  Like Roadkill said am Guilty for doing it aswell sometimes.

I see many people disagree my guide just because it's a long RP? Well, don't be lazy to RP...

Short Version to Jail guide.

Step 1: Take the ID card or passport of the suspect and add the crimefile on the processing computer.
Step 2: Escort the suspect to the cells.
Step 3: Open the cell and drag the suspect to inside it, locking it after that.

(( What about now? Can you at least follow those three steps, or it takes too much of your time?? ))

the new version is good, it doesnt take a long time, so you can get on duty fast again, and the jail stealers got less time too steal it,
and also this new and faster way is still adding more RP so it is still an improvement,
the long road is maybe too long, so just use this shorter version,
and if its all clear what suspect did more as the short version isnt needed

We could perhaps get a small script for the jailing, alerting ARPD cops who jails who.

Like in the old scripts, yeah! :)

I don't know how the other officers jail the suspect, but I always roleplay inside the PD before jailing the suspect.
I love the interviews, it's just fun. :conf:
