The Road Ahead (VC:MP)
« on: August 08, 2022, 20:21:50 pm »
Hello there, fellow Argonathians.

I hope you are all doing well.

As some of you might know by now via Discord or other channels, while to others this might come as a surprise - today I was reinstated as a Chief of Police for the Vice City Police Department. For those who do not know me: I served as the Chief of Police for VCPD 2017-2018.

The reason why I have returned is because I have noticed that VC:MP, and the community as a whole, is in a rather difficult position at this moment. While we still remain the only server that shows signs of live, the activity problems plaguing other servers have reached VC:MP as well.

However, unlike in other Argonath branches, were the reason for the inactivity are much more deeper and complex, in the VC:MP part of the community it's the same old reason as any time before if you take a moment to look back.

The way the VC:MP server is built from the ground up is that it always requires one - two active criminal groups and the police force to be active for people to be interested to play. If the police force goes inactive, the server sees a sharp drop in activity because:

1) the way the scripts function are restricted by the lack of police presence, and,
2) the lack of challenge from the police force results in lack of interest very quickly.

This pattern of server going inactive whenever the police force starts being inactive can be traced all the way back to Legend's VCPD: when Legend and his officers were inactive (which was quite a lot of the time), server hardly saw any activity, but when Legend would return to activity for those 2-3 weeks every three months, the server would spike in activity.

The same can be traced back to Salmonella's PD, when Salmonella started losing interest, and the police presence became less and less visible, which again changed as we managed to scramble the PD back together.

For the past year, internal feuds, court cases, and other drama rendered the VCPD leaderless and crippled. Naturally, without an active leadership, the department once again fell under a spell of inactivity. I dealt with this before, more than once. I know what to do, and how to do it.

For this reason, it was discussed and I offered to return as Chief of Police once again. I will try to work to bring the department back active and therefore spike people's interest into playing again until the new VCMP script arrives. Therefore, please keep in mind that the VCPD has returned and start hopping into the server more often. Ofcourse, needless to say VCPD applications are open and we will welcome anyone who would like to join and meets the minimum criteria.

This is also an invitation to players from other servers: join us. At this time, VC:MP remains the only server that still maintains some form of activity in the community. While anticipating the release of MTA:SA, join us in Vice City - the more the merrier! We will always welcome you and help you to get around.

I am also ready to welcome former and current law enforcers from other ARPD branches: SAPD, LCPD, LSPD etc. I will teach you the basics and ropes of the VCPD and we will work towards providing you with the closest possible ranks and positions you had in other branches.

VC:MP is worth checking out - despite this game feeling old for some, the VC:MP client is very flexible. For this reason, the VC:MP Argonath RPG server has probably the most advanced script at this time. Join us, create groups, join factions, start stories - PLAY. Become a part of the solution, not a part of the endless of "How did we get here" topics.

So, just let me remind you:

Not a "VCPD ded" but a "server ded" situation.

Sorry that I can't postpone life for once in a moon spike of activity for two hours that goes dead for the rest of the month.
