Tickets procedure.
« on: October 17, 2009, 12:33:48 pm »
I would like to discuss about giving tickets, long time ago when i joined SAPD i were mostly giving my time for the traffic and in traffic you will give the most of the tickets. Now when you are going to ticket somebody but he says he has no cash to pay it, i seen alot officers are going to announce them wanted and jail them wich is not correct procedure. So i been using one procedure for long time now and wich for i asked a permission for the Chief ofcourse is that giving a time period for paying a ticket, like giving a ticket for $180 for reckless driving and it must be paid in 3 days and you got to say him the correct date when it must be paid or before that or else he is going to be announced as wanted and jailed for hiding and evading to pay it.

So, i been using it and still use and will continue but what i want is i hope that become a official for the SAPD and everybody else gonna use it.

(( Actually, what I've been doing from the time I became an officer, is that if a citizen cannot pay a ticket, I just ask them to use "/me pays the ticket" or if they want, for more roleplay, they can use "/me takes out a wallet and pulls out a sum of money, handing it over".

It's much simpler and effective than giving them a few days to pay, because you can't track them down and know if they paid the ticket within the time period. ))

Well he must pay it like only to you or there is some place in forum where officer can report the paid ticket.

I would just give them a verbal warning if they cannot pay. I will tell them if I catch them doing repeat offences, they may be jailed or fined a greater amount. Then I forget who they were, because I'm not that bothered about a $100 fine! In the first place, I would only usually give tickets for dangerous driving for payment of damaged property etc... so it is unlikely I will catch them doing it again anyway...

For speeders, if I can be bothered to pull them it would go Verbal Warning>Forget name>move on

I obtain the following rule: No money = no car. So when they can't pay (or wont pay), I tow their car. I know, they'll just steal a new car around the corner, but you would be surprised how many people pay after you threaten to take the car :D

I just say pay or you go to jail =//
That usually makes them pay. I will also suggest this: "Sir you can call a friend to come pay it, or we can go to an ATM"
I try to give them a chance, hard to tell if its them lying or they truely don't have money. I never ticket someone unless they have recieved a warning before (SACS Database)

I usually inform them that a citation is the way they are being released on the charges, as they are technically arrested. Usually that gets them to pay, which means if they don't pay the ticket then they have to go to jail because they've been arrested... If they honestly can't pay, then they spend time behind bars. Or they do some "special" labor ;) (of course I am kidding...)
