The Police Officer's Creed
« on: April 26, 2010, 06:13:09 am »
Found this online, and thought I'd share it with you guys. :cop:

Quote from: © Arnold RIECK
The Police Officer's Creed

I must possess complete integrity
For temptations will bestride my path;
I must be tidy in my thoughts and person
For pride, ambition, will demand this.
Patience and courage are my twin companions...
Patience paves the way for my lucid thinking
While courage should be boundless.
My rank instills in me a sense of power
Which I must discipline so that no man need fear me...
Except there be good reason.
And by these concepts I will be strong...
A true servant and guardian of THE LAW.

Found it on internet didn't make it, its funny though but a bit irrelevant to arpd.

I got an email asking for a project quote
Thought I’d better check it out since I felt pretty broke
Opened up the message, and it read to my dismay:
“Can I get something free, cause I don’t want to pay?”

So I thought to myself, “Better find a job quick!”
To pay for health insurance just in case I get sick
But I never get sick, so it’s all just a waste
Now I’ve got the health insurance — can’t afford the toothpaste

I’ve got to stay current, there’s a lot I need to buy
Like a Wacom, an iPad, Creative Suite 5
And speaking of Adobe, I wish that I could ask
Can I get a free upgrade? Your software bankrupts fast

I’ve also got a Mac that I cannot afford
So I had to sell my bed, now I sleep on the floor
In my down-time, it’s true, I like to read a blog or two
Like Smashing Mag, Line 25 and Abduzeedo to name a few

Finally found a client who wants a new logo
Was not surprised to hear them say, “Is that the lowest you can go?”
They also need a website and a business card too
But why’d they choose that brown when it looks so close to poo?

In fact it’s a rule, they should teach this in school:
That clients always pick the worst concept instead of something cool.
So any cool thing I design must be done in my free time
Which gets me featured in a gallery and never makes a dime

Then Christmas rolls around with tons of presents I must buy
If you could see my credit card bill you’d have a tear in your eye
And when I go on a vacation looking for a break
The client always calls and says, “My project is at stake!”

To sum things up, I’ve got some final words:
Leave the crying to the babies and the flying to the birds.
It’s a crazy life. What’s a freelancer to do?

The Police Officer's Creed
By Panda Araatus

Don't care for your goodwill,
infringe on your free will.
It gives me such a thrill,
to pretend I have some skill.

Don't care if you're stood still,
got my duty to fulfil,
shoot you in the face, I will,
For orange I must kill.
