Skin script change
« on: February 07, 2008, 20:36:05 pm »
I currently announce the opening of discussion at the developers team about skins of police forces...

Points and plans...

* The discussion will be about "colored" nicks and markers on the map... To make police colors of nicks and spots the same as civilians - white...

Reasons:

- Criminal will not have a difference between police dot on map and civilian...
- Police officers will have possibility to work undercover with the police rights on civilian skins... (Detectives)

Script:

- the /duty command will give you possibility to pickup street patrol skin or stay as civilian skin
- the /duty command will give you an access to the police commands

If you have any comments - feel free to put it...

Please notice: we do not open this topic for "I have an idea"... We are currently opened topic to see the majority of police officers opinions...

This topic is ONLY for positive or negative reaction on the news... If you have a negative reaction please post the reason...

Sounds like a plan. The civilian colour thing can mean that chases will be easier to co-ordinate as suspects can not distinguish if a police presence will be further on down the road meaning they can be cut off easier.

The detective part is good but it must be exclusive to a certain ARPD level upwards to ensure that only a few detectives will be online at once

This sounds like a pretty good idea to me.It will make new ranks available (such as luetenant and Detective ranks).I like the idea, but if its up to me,i think the cadets should stay light blue color and there should be some way to recognize if a cop is on duty or not ... :)

Actually this idea is great because IRL police are not just officers running after criminals , But also their is detectives (Without cop Uniform) and this idea will make alot of new rp situations .

I think this is a great idea since suspects will no longer be able to choose where they're going to escape based on whether or not they see cops on their maps, but I think cops should still be able to distinguish each other on and off the map so they don't end up ruining drug busts and other RP moments.

If this will go into life (which will probably happen), learn a new general code:

Code 5 - Stakeout/Uniformed officers stay away

This idea is awesome, this is what FBI really need's to improve the roleplay even more. Just like in real life... FBI walk in the streets with civilian clothing all the time in duty gathering information, this could really improve the posibilities of FBI, just like in real life :).
We must always maintain that the wished final, as much as it seems to us meritorious and proceeding in right, it never justifies the use of improper means.

I strongly support this idea, it will allow police to sneak up on suspects and allow for undercover investigation and operations, not to mention other such benefits.

This will be a good one if it works and maybe C.R.A.S.H. appears after this.

I think its a good idea, removing the coloured nicks and markers we will have more chances to roleplay something different than "flash raids"... where usually the criminals have a few seconds to escape. It will reduce also the metagame.

But i think we need also a command to show the badge to civilians to prove we are policemen and not scammers.

Yup, i'm aslo behind the idea! And the badge is also a good idea... Maybe if this is possible: for civilians = everything whit, for cops deffirent collours...
Its easy to see for cops if there is a problem to go to that bleu dot...
If not, all white :-)

Policeman always stay policeman even he is off duty(civil), so in that reason we need some badge of recognition like this one on my avatar

Anyway this is nice idea about script change :cop:

A very good idea, a number are aware that under a number of occasions I have gone udercover (in so much as civvy with white marker) with police TS on to allow information to be passed on, to assist police with tracking certain individuals down.  If I saw a crime that needed dealign with I could do nothing but inform about it, and if I got caight up asisting police as has happened while udnercover, the guys that dont know my status have actually suspected me.

The ability to suspet someone as a criminal without nessecarily making it obvious your a cop can make a differance between a planned raid and a big mess.

My misfortune is I dont change the name much when undercover and many have worked out I am cop on and off duty...
