How to call backup (Up for descussion and revision)
« on: June 24, 2010, 05:46:24 am »
How To call Backup to a location
101

When calling backup there are certain things you need to know.

1) Is it safe?

Can you call backup without getting shot at or killed? The most important aspect is to stay alive hide somewhere and call when you are safe.

2)
Is backup needed

Do you really need backup? Don't just call backup all the time this is a waste of resources if it is not needed. If it is one suspect with a gun and he has low health cant you just handle him yourself?

Stage 2
Calling backup

When using the police radio you have to be specif. The more details to where you need backup the better. This helps officers come to your aid quicker and more direct.

Here are the steps

1) Identify the location

Ex: /r Backup needed Downtown San feirro Near the burger shot behind the ally of the bakers.

2) Identify why you need backup

Ex: /r 2 men spotted both with Kevlar and high powered weapons

3) Identify the rate of response needed.

Ex:
/r I need Code 3 Response officers in danger Code 30

4) Identify your badge # this is important so that Units may use GPS tracking.

Ex:
Unit 30 Requesting backup.

You can do this in 1 sentence But I recommend at least 2 so you can use the most descriptive and well thought information possible.

Well thanks Lt, The point is to reach out to the people who posted the /bu command post. I want people to understand that we can do without it, and that we will have a system for it. Hopefully if enough command staff like this and revise it it can be put into procedure and taught to cadets.

I've noticed alot of people don't give their location and are always being asked to give it.

"i need backup now code 30!"

"10-20?"

The only problem is that when you go far enough away (so that the bad guys can't see you). and you write all this information down, by the time the backup gets there, the suspects are probably gone. Also, alot of times even when you give just enough info ex: /r SHOTS FIRED, need backup, GS9, 2 suspects, C3/C30 There's only ONE GS9 right, and pretty much EVERYONE even alot of newcomers are familiar with it, people still spam the radio with /r Where is that? or /r 10-20? even though they were JUST given pretty clear directions. That's all I'm saying

Nice Post Jimmy but I beleive that it will be alot useful information to use for Police Procedures and Law. BUT, we can also do this in one sentence though.
Ex:
/r U18 Requesting Backup C30 Downtown, SF, 2 417's High Powered Rifles, Respond C3
Police Radio: TinMan: U18 Requesting Backup C30 Downtown, SF, 2 417's High Powered Rifles, Respond C3, Over.

[U= Unit][18= ID Number][Requesting Backup= Need Assistance][C30= Officers life endangered][Location or 10-20: Downtown, SF][2 417's meaning 2 people with weapons][Respond C3=Meaning Respond with Lights in Sirens]

Why should you take it in 3 sentences when you can do it in 1? It would be easier if you could just do it in one sentence especially if you can't get to any cover.

Because the Police radio has a character limit. The only way to get it in one sentence would be .. Unit 21 Requesting backup Idelwood 2 suspects heavily armed need code 3 response.

That is not necessarily descriptive enough.

I can fit "/r U18 Requesting Backup C30 Downtown, SF, 2 417's High Powered Rifles, Respond C3" In the Police Radio. If it needs shortened then I could do this...
/r U18 Need Backup C30, Downtown, SF, 2 417's Heavily Armed, C3

It should fit anyway.

That U21 example that you just gave is longer than mine. And you never did answer my question.

That is fine but I am just saying be more "Descriptive".

Ex: /r Sergeant Bowling Unit 28 Requesting backup Code 30
/r  Shots fired Chinatown San Fierro 2 suspects heavily armed
/r  Code 30 Code 3 response is needed Please advise. I need heavily armed units 10-76 now

/r I'M IN THE SHIT! HELP!

Seriously do we need guidelines for this? Use common sense! As long as it gives some information it is usually sufficient.

Jcstodd's is right, we dont need guidelines for this, just do it howvever you feel comfortable.

Besides, we have area, don't deny it, we all use it.  This is a game, stop trying to make it too serious.

Usually when someone is shooting at me though. I would want to type really fast and short that so I don't get my head blown off. 3 long sentences of typing might have a high risk of a chance of getting yourself killed.
On your example let's see how we could shorten it up.

/r Sgt. Bowling U28 Requesting Backup C30
-That took less time of typing and easy to read.
/r 10-20 Chinatown, SF 2 417's Heavily Armed/Shots Fired
-Again it took less time of typing.
/r Heavily Armed Units 10-76, C30, Respond C3
-Instead of making it into a long sentence we should shorten it up alittle bit, but it could all be one sentence. For Example:
/r Sgt. Bowling U28 Requesting Backup C30, ChinaTown, SF, 2 417's Shots Fired, Requesting Armed Units 10-76, C3.
That is kind of long but you can still shorten it up more.

LOL! Jcstodds here again. :D Yes we don't need guidelines basically common sense, but you should atleast report it to the radio if you are in a safe place. If not I would just say SHIT I NEED HELP. Then there like 10-20? Then it's like **** ***. Just /area LOL. I know that it isn't RP. But Really if I'm getting shot I wouldn't give a f**k about the radio guidelines.

Well Simply!!!

1) Is it safe?

Can you call backup without getting shot at or killed? The most important aspect is to stay alive hide somewhere and call when you are safe.

Listen to me clearly, I made this to help people LIKE FREECOPS and cadets. It is of no use to Officers seeing as they should know this. Now if you don't like it simply DON'T USE IT!! I dont like having people pick apart something I spent my time to create so if you don't like it DON'T LOOK AT THE TOPIC
