Adopt A Freecop Program
« on: October 08, 2010, 12:42:59 pm »

Adopt A Free Cop

The Concept

When you decide to go on duty, you ask any random freecop, a friend that is a freecop, or a freecop you see struggling with the job of being in law enforcement and ask them if they would like to be your "freecop for the day", "freecop for the hour", or however long you want to do it. Not only will this promote teamwork between the high ranked officers and freecops, but it could also help get the SAPD back the the size and QUALITY it was.

Who is eligable for this program?

You may find yourself asking this question, and the answer is simple: Anyone can take part in the Adopt A Freecop program. If you are thinking to yourself, "well, I'm only a cadet, there is no way I could teach somebody how to be a cop." WRONG! You are a Cadet right? You must have done something right to get that promotion.

How does this work exactly?

As stated above, when you go on duty, you get into your patrol car, and then find a freecop that you could teach. Whether it be an hour of teaching or a full patrol day, that is up to you. Some may ask, "Isn't it the job of the Acadamy Instructors to teach the freecops?" As a police force, it is all of our jobs to help teach, and learn from eachother. It doesn't matter if you have been a Cadet for an hour, or a Captain for 9 months, we all have things to teach, and things to learn. Not one cop on this force can say that they have nothing else to learn, we all have faults, and we can all make improvements.

What made you think of this idea?

So many times I have been in the server, or reading the forums and seen flames, moaning, whining, and so on and so forth about freecops. If we took all of that energy, all of that passion, all of that anger, and turned into teamwork, teaching, helping, and assisting, then I don't see why this police force wouldn't be able to handle any problem that is to come our way. If we are sitting on the sidelines, just chillin by ourselves, then I feel we have no right to complain about freecops. If you are not willing to take the initiative and teach them what they did was wrong, and you just sit there and yell at them, then they cannot learn. We all need teachers to be learners.

Ending Statement

I realise that some freecops are unwilling to learn, but I can almost promise you that there is at least one out there that would be more than willing to be taken under your wing, hang on your every word, aspire to be like you. I'm not saying to go out there and make the freecops your "slave", but go out there and make freecops your friends. Who knows, one day that freecop could be the next Lt. the next Cpt. or even the next Chief. Wouldn't you feel proud knowing that the once, poor little freecop that didn't know anything about the work, didn't even know how to use the police radio, trusted you with his career as a police officer and made it to the top? I would be exstatic.

So please everyone, go out there and Adopt A Freecop today!

It would be better if we didn't "claim" a freecop, rather spread your knowledge upon multiple freecops.

It is better to stick to a certain freecop for some time, patrol with him every day and teach him the ropes etc.

That's what makes the best officers, not some academy process where you take boring lessons from ten differant instructors. Atleast in my opinion.

I usually teach freecops the basics for about 2 hours whenever I find a good freecop that wants to learn.
