Jail time
« on: May 24, 2011, 00:36:52 am »
Well, you can probably guess what made me say this. A recent conversation with 2 FBI members and Conroy, about corruption.
He jailed someone for 60 seconds for murder (I believe) and the FBI were under the impression it was corruption.
Multiple SAPD Members, including our beloved Ex-Chief Pancher, argued Conroys case, but the FBI Members would not change their mindset. Pancher spoke privately with one, I'm not sure of the outcome though.
Taking into account Conroy is ARPD, and he was told that the previous SAPD session 6 spoke of a rule, it isn't exactly correct that he was being accused of corruption and script abuse! I thought 60 seconds was adequate, as I never jail above about 90 seconds, ever.

/discuss

Jail times for suspects? What are your opinions on suitable jail times for certain crimes? I know there are no definite figures, but I would be interested to know people's opinions on this.
Also, I apologise to the FBI, as I was clearly angry when I wrote the post crossed out above. I have thought it through, and apologised to the Deupty Director, but figured it was a good idea to say sorry here as well. I do respect what you do, but I forget that in moments of rage.
Peace.

Keep this discussion polite, or I will lock the topic myself and impose forum sanctions on all violators. This especially goes for those who will start to pick fights, such as this poster.

As for the topic, police officers have the right to jail for a reasonable time, as long as they are not deliberately abusing the script in order to jail criminals for shorter times or provide improper advantages to themselves, or to the criminals in the jail cells.

60 seconds is a reasonable time for murder, as opposed to 15 seconds for cop murder. If you can prove that the cop was "helping the criminal as a friend" or using corruption-motivated intentions, then it is corruption. Otherwise, a minute is reasonable.

If you want extra-long times, Mordor Maximum Security Prison is always open. Remember we are not an RLRP Server where the longest jail times are imposed for minor offenses.

In the easiest way of saying it, the punishment should fit the crime.

Warning to anyone in SAPD who wants to pick fights with another ARPD group, there will be punishments. If you feel there was some injustice in any case you've encountered, discuss in a mature manner.

I have to admit, at the time I posted this I was kind of hoping for an angry reply, so I could argue...I have apologised to the FBI Deputy Director since, and will change the writing in this topic to make it more suitable, whilst adding an apology onto the main post.
