Heroes
« on: July 09, 2011, 10:35:19 am »
This story was taken from "Law Enforcement Today" from a post they made on FaceBook. This story is completely true, and absolutely amazing:

Quote from: Law Enforcement Today @ FaceBook
Two families, two homes burning down, one great rescue by FIRESTONE POLICE DEPARTMENT (Co.) SR. SERGEANT NEAL LUCERO and Colorado Wildlands FIRE FIGHTER BILL KERWIN: Sr. Sgt. Neal Lucero had just finished his shift and was heading home at midnight when he noticed a house on fire. He immediately radioed it in, jumped out of his vehicle and ran toward the fire. At the same time, a wildlands Firefighter, who happened to live across the street, also came running and headed toward the fire ... when most people would have run away ...

The entire one side of one home was completely engulfed as the two Heroes banged on doors, yelling all the while trying to wake the homeowners. It wasn't working and the fire was growing out of control. More banging, and some kicking in doors, running into the smoke filled home, flames shooting in and around, with no breathing gear nor protective covering, they had no choice, they had to save the innocents ... and save they did. In the home, it was anywhere between 1,200 and 2,000 degrees but these warriors were not giving up. This dynamic duo were able to rouse and retrieve the adults and children and even a 120+ pound dog! By the time Brothers Neal and Bill got the residents to safety, the fire had spread to the adjoining home ... and it was going up in flames ...

So they do their thing all over again and while the 30 firefighters who had arrived and began taking control of the inferno, Sgt. Lucero and FF Kerwin got the second family to safety ... with no time to spare. The firedawgs were able to get it all under control within 90 minutes before any other homes and woods could burn. Sadly, the homes were lost ... but all lives were saved with no injuries to anyone.

Sr. Sergeant Neal Lucero recently received his10 years of service award, no doubt born with a soul that has courage to wear the badge. He could have just kept driving after he called this in. Could have just gone home to his family. But a Police Officer does not do that. This is another example of how far and much a Law Enforcement Officer will go and do ... for you. AWESOME JOB WELL DONE NEAL, BILL and the rest of the Brave Firefighters from the Frederick-Firestone FPD, Mountianview FD and Platteville-Gilcrest FD who responded. Our thoughts are with the families.

After the Fire Marshal conducted the investigation, it was learned that the improper disposal of fireworks, that were left in a bin between the two structures, was the cause of the half million dollar damage.

Irrelevant posts removed, topic re-opened.

These are the ARPD Forums, and our work is to roleplay as law enforcement. There is nothing wrong with getting inspiration every now and then from our real-life counterparts, as it gives some people the proper motivation to become excellent law enforcers.

The most important part is interacting with others and meeting people from around the world.

Thank you JDC, and you are correct. ARPD is based off of real-life law enforcement, so the forum's description of "related to ARPD" is actually correct because law enforcement is related to it ;)

As an update to the original post, nothing has been reported further that I have found regarding this incident, so I'm assuming it's still under investigation and likely not a big enough news update for any online newspaper to bother writing about.
