Resignation of The Sheriff of Fort Carson
« on: February 06, 2012, 01:00:20 am »
  Hello friends.

Today I will make a hard decision, and that is to leave SAPD. It is not something I will take lightly as I have been apart of this since the very beginning. I have seen change for good and for bad and there has not been a time where I have not been connected to this on an emotional level.

I saw this new Sheriffs group, and I have mixed emotions on it. Excited at the prospect of something new and fresh, wanting to jump in and apply straight away. On the other hand, slightly disappointed, jealous even that there will be an official Sheriff of SAPD despite my own service record as.... the Sheriff.

Which may seem kind of childish, and then I realised... that actually it is. Times are moving on, and I am ready to leave with my trust completely in the new generation of SAPD. Without my old ass nagging about "the good old days"... which is a constant disease of the veteran players, brought on by growing up as it were (same with all games you will find).

On a personal note, I will be moving away slowly from Argonath as it is having a negative effect on my life outside and so my activity will be dropping as I tie off loose ends. Really, I have realised how emotionally attached you can get to this game... and in the end it is just a game. This is what makes it difficult to get away from Argonath... there is always so much change to get excited about and keep dragging me in haha.

Of course... I will never be able to completely leave the community and so I will not disappear right away. But this is so I can move on faster in life.

Good luck to everyone.

Play fair,

and play for fun.

Damn good philosophy Sheriff.

Was going to object to you resigning, but your explanation is perfect. I wish you the best of luck in everything, and I hope you achieve what you strive for.

MINIMAN622 - Freecop of 2009

^By posting my first ever name on Argonath, I hope you see I also miss times which have passed. Things don't seem so new and exciting like they used to. May be different for you, but I'll always remember the thrill of being accepted as a Cadet, and passing my Officer exam. I certainly won't feel the same about that again.
I guess we all lose our interest in certain ways...I know I strive to be promoted again, but because that's where I used to be, not because I'm excited about the rank.

Times change, we change, but memories will never change. See you in the real world in the future maybe, even if I don't recognise you ;)

Edit:
Me and Monkey often refer to ourselves as oldies in humorous conversation. In a way though, we mean it. We look at all the new people coming in, and I certainly feel that same jealousy sometimes. You know, the "wow, they got promoted". Now, I understand better. I show my 'age' in my new project - Preferring to do my own training rather than assisting with the new academy. I've looked back at previous members, people I've forgotten, and used to patrol with. It truly saddens me, though they most likely made a good decision.
I see you go, and I watch DPD's history leaving with you. You and Giac are my boys; the ones who've BEEN DPD to me. It might sound strange, but now I have new Officers looking at me in a similar fashion. I hope they understand where the true wisdom lies - it is surely not with me, or most (if not all) others in the SAPD now.
Watch out for yourself mate, and drop a line sometimes.

I always find new things in Argonath to get excited about, but unfortunately after some years I get very bored of things in SAPD. I have never actually done much different as a cop. As a Captain I did the same thing I did as I do now, or as I did when I was an officer before... except I do not do things like this often because I am simply bored of it. Training... patrols etc... all done before!
But that's why I know the newer guys can take SAPD further... because they will find more motivation and interest in new ideas and change. This is why it is always changing and always keeps me interested.

Problem is of course, now I need to move on from Argonath!.... so I will take some drastic action : )

Goodbye my friend, I have known you since 2008 back in Armed Limo Service, otherwise known as ALS,
and still to this day you show the same loving care towards the role-play you create and you do all you can to create some form of entertainment for all the players.

If you personally feel it is about time to leave it and move on, please do so, dont let this turn from an emotional connection into a burden for you. Prosper with your life and studies.
I wish you the best of luck with your studies and future career.

Best of luck Jcs. You are one of the most admirable police officers I have seen in service of the SAPD and Argonath for a long time. Not to mention a kickarse admin. I won't go into it, so best of luck and I hope the rest of your life goes well.

I think this is a sad moment for not only individuals, not only SAPD but the entire server. We are slowly loosing what can only be on of the greatest kickarse, crazy ass, drunken sheriff admins we will ever have.

I have a lot of respect for what you just said, and I wish you luck in anything in which you aim for as your attitude is one that not many people have these days.

If I was still in DPD, I would also be resigning at the decision to remove it and start this ripoff group.

But, it's sad to see you go, and I understand why. Thanks for all of your help to me throughout your time in DPD and I wish you all the best with uni and life  :)

Well that is surprising.
As I have seen you playing and learn from you. You are practically the best RP'er I know.
I am absolutely not thrilled about watching you leave, but it should of obviously happened sometime.
Any way, I wish you good luck in the future in the chemistry zone and in your life.

What can I say more than:
Immigrants will now have their way with our wives and sisters
Your crazy monkeys from Mt Chilliad will die because of hunger
Criminals won't be able to confess at Father Bastard
And we will probably end as flesh eating zombies because The Crazy Doctor won't be there to find a cure
