P.I.T Maneuver
« on: February 06, 2013, 05:50:22 am »
I don't know if you've seen this video or not but I felt it was a great example of the P.I.T. maneuver. And since the car is a Mustang, it emulates the speed we generally deal with. The third maneuver by the criminal was pretty cool though.

Haha, just did a training on this! It's certainly one of the most efficient and useful tactics to bring pursuits to a controlled and safe end.

Due to having to account for lag, if you tried that in-game, you'd just spin yourself out :P But lagpitting is awesome, I can never pass up an opportunity to do that.

Wish I had been there! I'm striving for HSP and PIT is definitely one of the more important skills to master.

Getting the right distance in-front of a suspect vehicle is crucial to performing a good P.I.T.  Flipped dozen's of vehicle's doing it.

Sadly, figuring out where's the sweet spot is several times harder than it is with lagshooting. With lagshooting you get several chances a second, whereas you only get so many chances at lagpit. From what I remember from SAPD Cadet training, there wasn't really all that much taught about lagpits, perhaps that could be worked on, against various vehicles and things and stuff.

TinMan did one last night that was so good I literally went "Hollyyy shittt!" He flipped the car on the first try by going like ten meters in front of it

A great chase skill to master.

Check this out. It's something that we used to use for teaching recruits in the old VCPD Academy 3/4 years back.

From our own Chase_Greggor, actually. :D

Even though the FBI rancher is a 4x4, and a bit high, PIT still works in some cases. They see us rollin' , they run. Sad thing about some police vehicles is the speed. On the highway you'll loose the advantage. But a good driver can beat a suspect in an infernus, both by driving skill and teamwork (eg: roadblocks).

PIT is one of the best tactics I've ever seen/used in SA:MP. Thanks for sharing those videos, I'm sure new officers will learn from it.

Heh, I'm suprised you still remember that GIF I posted years ago :P ... I sure didn't remember it. Anyways, its a good tactic indeed. Anyone is free to use my GIF for their training if they wish. I'm just glad I could contribute.

I remember when we used to do SKID & PIT trainings in the DPD with Giac, those should be organised some more in my opinion :D
