Radio Usage
« on: July 02, 2014, 12:25:08 pm »
Hello my fellow law enforcement members, recently I have seen a lot of 'abuse' of the police and emergency radio, especially by SAPD personnel.
I've noticed a lot of people just use the radio for any kind of transmission.
I just want to remember you guys that the radio is for police purpose, and to be role played with. Not to troll in and f**k around in.
When a member of the SAPD, FBI, or any other law enforcement group asks you to stop with your 'issue' with another member or take it to a desired place, do so.
When an administrator tells you to 10-3 because you are not using the radio for its purpose, listen to the administrator. I've seen people argue about the usage of the radio and I'd like to make it clear to you, the radio is intended for role play, and it is supposed to stay this way
I am not a member of the SAPD CMD staff, but I am writing this message with the reason, we need to increase role play from our side. And a start for that is, just use the radio for its correct purpose, and if you want to go and f**k around, use a CB or PM.

Best Regards,
A. Banks

A good reminder to all, thank you for the initiative.
Trapped in an eternal crossroads, following one road, but called forth to the others... Yet only one body exists.

In my opinion: It is fine to crack a joke once in a while on certain themes but someone asks you to drop it, then you should.
On another note: Teamspeak is not the primary source of communication, the radio IG is. Please use it to update pursuits and status. Thanks

I agree to this what morais says. Not everyone is able to get on teamspeak and as you are patrolling with mostly 2 officers then the radio is the perfect way to communicate wit your fellow officer where everyone can read the uodate and not the certain people on TS.

While using the radio is necessary and having knowledge on it is essential, I believe teamspeak needs to be utilized more. I've got an idea on bettering team speak, or how we could use it to our advantage. Besides this, I have an idea on bettering our pursuit tactics and on how to correlate this with teamspeak. Unfortunately, I can't really state it out until I work it with a SAPD Command member to make sure this idea will work with Argonath and will not go against its vision, but I'm sure it will stop the reckless overtaking, over-talking, and un-coordination with how we do pursuits in SAPD.

That's not going to ever be enforced or encouraged.., you can not make other players install TeamSpeak just because the main method of communication is TeamSpeak.

When did I say I would MAKE other players install TeamSpeak? When did I say that? Never. That's when... (Sorry, but I always say that. A quote of mine). I never said I would MAKE them. I just said I had an idea on how we could combine the two into making an efficient pursuit method. You have to use all the tools given to you. If people don't want TeamSpeak that's fine and all, but you just won't be part of this method I have planned that will reduce, if not completely take out pursuit-issues, such as reckless overtaking, reckless PIT, etc.

I'm not forcing anyone to use TeamSpeak. I just want a way, for officers to have a clear way to engage in a vehicle pursuit with a suspect. You can either follow that way or not. I'm not offering a reward for following, or punishing if you don't. But perhaps if you do go along with it (if it gets approved and set up) you might become a better officer yourself, and this will spread among others. Others will change once you start the change.

Hmm I seem to remember my training concerning that it was better to have a partner to cover radio (communication issues gone) and some simple pursuit procedure can be a-heard to (pursuit issues gone).

Whilst you may not be actively forcing people to use TeamSpeak and "encouraging them", total pursuit on reliance on TeamSpeak because the driver can talk is not always the best option as not everyone has access to TeamSpeak (microphone, speakers, you get the idea). I have actually used TeamSpeak in the past RS4 in LVPD and still use it in VC:MP VCPD. It is useful at times and then annoying because of the channel setup in TeamSpeak (having to Alt Tab and change). I do not need to become a "better officer", as I am almost fully retired from SA:MP Policing Duties.

Whilst it may a good idea for faster communication remember not everyone can just hop on TeamSpeak because of a pursuit or situation. ARPD/SAPD is an open PD, not a closed one, so the requirements shouldn't be as high to enjoy being a LEO.

I do support more usage of TeamSpeak but it should in NO way take over the purpose of the ingame radio and encourage a culture of total reliance on TeamSpeak.

If you have any issues with the usage of the radio, and you have read through the codes but don't really understand them, you can check out this topic. It explains the codes more in depth.

TeamSpeak may not be main form of communication but it's HIGHLY encouraged that you do use it.  It's so much easier to update via that than it is writing text.

If we could enforce people to use TeamSpeak we would, but since Argonath is so restricted and all we can't.
