A weight off my shoulders
« on: June 14, 2015, 00:13:52 am »
Evening all,

For some time now i have been extremely busy within my real life roles. As some of you may or may not know i work as a supervisor in a large store and i volunteer with my local police, a career i intend to take up full time in the coming months. Unfortunately i have been swallowed by these roles and no longer feel i am able to contribute enough time to my position within the argonath police department and this has cost the department and my command team dearly. Decisions have been delayed and i have been pressured into making decisions without full knowledge or practical understanding of them and i dont feel this is the correct way a department should be run as its not fair to anyone involved.

I have been feeling huge amounts of anxiety towards my role as SAPD Chief of Police and at times have even chosen not to view these forums for fear of another incident or discussion needing my intervention or input, when all i wanted to do was relax and have fun running the department. Unfortunately i haven't been able to have fun in this role and have felt pressure and anxiety from day one. This is nobody's fault it is simply the nature of the role. A chief needs to be completely free and dedicated to this department. Not a 19 Year old trying to cope with a promotion at work and the grueling application process for a new career.

As a result of my time constraints i have made decisions that may not have suited this department or its people. You may have noticed Luke a personal friend of mine recently failed to pass his trial period as a sergeant. He is perfectly capable of the role and performed well in the training but suffered like me trying to work and join the police. I knew of these pressures and in a way set him up to fail, something that i feel bad for. (On a side note congratulations to Luke for progressing to the National police assesment center, Its bloody tough).

As a result of my inability to correctly perform the duties of a chief currently i have decided to take up the role as a command adviser. I have spoken with Plam Knight and have expressed my desire to still be involved but not in a way that demands my presence all of the time. I want to be here, enjoy the game and help whoever follows in my footsteps.

I have served in this department for three straight years, i joined this time of year in 2012 and have had great fun serving in LVPD and the new global SAPD. I have had a blast and hope to continue having fun when i am around.

Good luck to my successor, when the previous chiefs tell you its a really tough job don't think they are joking.

We sign up to do something that we know may be dangerous, even lethal. Yet we do it anyway. Not because of honor, or pride. But because it's the right thing to do.

June is the month of judgement I see, what with these influental decisions made. One cannot ignore how they are made by following one's heart.

I do have to say that it was a nice period when you were in charge even despite some people's personal worries I noticed, and I wish you the best of luck with your career  :cop:
Thank you and fare well!

I've never actively seen you as a chief, but we had a few patrols and I must say I appreciated your down-to-earth attitude. I hope you'll do fine with the police IRL, I'm sure you are capable of being a good cop!

Good luck and thanks, Mega!

You did the best of your ability, Megamidget, no one can ask or expect anything more. You've been a rising star in the department for years, and it was a real pleasure seeing you follow through with this role. You made a responsible decision today, and that is something that earns great respect.

You'll do great things.

Joel,

I haven't really known you as much until you became Chief. After that we began to understand each other through our daily TS discussions... anyways I must say you are a great guy with great ambitions and you have done quite a lot for the department despite what anybody says. It was definitely a pleasure serving under your command. I completely understand this decision as juggling between SAPD and real life can be quite stressful, but at the end of the day real life takes precedence. To be completely honest, If I were in your situation, I would do the same. Just know I will always be around if you need any help, be sure to drop by time to time to say hi. Lastly, I wish you the best with your future ambitions and endeavors.
