ARPD Community Outreach
« on: March 18, 2009, 23:42:46 pm »
After just watching the movie "Riot", about the L.A. Riots in the 1990's, and after seeing first hand how people have been feeling lately about police activities on Argonath RPG, I think it's time we do more to connect with the community to better understand one another and better our display to others. What I am requesting is for an area of the forums, and something to be added to the training or regular officer duties, that helps bring cops and civilians closer together, as well as a better way for them to interact with the department. Many real life departments have civil volunteer services, community programs, and other various ways to let the community be a part of the action, as well as allowing them to get the help they need from us outside of our daily jobs, as people, not cops.

It is with this I propose to create an official Community Outreach within the ARPD. I would love the idea and I would love to see the department and the community working more closely together, as well as a better way for the community to report those who violate their rights to protect and serve. A better image within the community would be a great benefit, and may even lower crime. Argonath may be a safe place, but it is riddled with gangs and mafias that could slowly disappear if the community feels safer with us around them. This outreach could also increase non-police communication, tips, and cooperating with the department from the community.

This idea I am suggesting both improves our community image that may lead to better cooperating and less crime, but also prevents any future outbreaks such as riots, fights, lawsuits, and discrimination from and against the department. This department has become large enough to take on it's role successfully, and it has integrated itself into our country, but now it is time that we also integrate it into the community, and find ways to give back. We are here to protect and serve the innocent and arrest the guilty, not discriminate against criminals and have bystanders hate us for our job...

A better role with the community means an easier job for everyone. We are here for, composed of, and and work with the community every day, so how can you say no?

i agree that ARPD must be more connected with the ''normal'' civillians,
currently all those civillians do is complaining, but they dont know how we work inside ARPD,
they are outsiders,
civillians should get more into the ARPD, so they understand what for work we do,
and for who cops work

This doesn't need a forum section, as of yet that is. If you can find an area that is dedicated to legitimate business and law obiding citizens, I will happily help you get the resources you need to get closer to that community - but most civilians in Argonath, i'm talking from an OOC perspective here - are connected to the underworld in some way with the very rare, unique occasion of a legitimate business. Finding a neighbourhood that is just trying to get along with life on Argonath RPG? Find that and i'll give you 10k.

Easy. Keep in mind that when users RP a criminal or a cop, they are RP'ing as a separate character for each one. Can you say problem solved? :)
On a side note: This is more the reason to get them involved! If the true non-criminals join us, it will make things stronger between us and them. This makes our image better, which could possibly lead to others turning over a new leaf and leaving the crime world. It would start off slow at first, but if successfully integrated, could change Argonath as we know it...

Edit: Not cool...

If this is true, how could you put down or deny an idea such as this? That makes no sense at all...
