Problem with Criminals and Interiors
« on: June 22, 2009, 07:30:35 am »
Today, I had two suspects cornered with my SASD Units, who typed /exit after being cornered, and then they jumped in a car and ran.

I reported them for script abuse, and Kitsune replied, stating it was just bad role play.

Something needs to be done about this, otherwise we can kiss role play good by. If it's bad role play, it should be against the rules. It's a role play server.

You guys got 2 cents?

I have to agree with you Rory, to use /exit when cornered in is just pure and simple script abuse.

Yes it can be annoying.. That's why I always have a few men waiting outside the entrance, just in case of that.

Or maybe something smart can be implemented.

If you have to be on an icon to enter the building, why not have the same for /exit?

It should not be tolerated. If someone does /exit away from a door, while cornered, they should be tempbanned. It is ruining RP and promoting bad RP at the same time. I agree with Rory on this fully, as this happens to every cop at least twice a day.

I have to agree with you Rory, to use /q when cornered in is just pure and simple script abuse.

/exit not /q

@amahone

thats because there are multiple houses/bizzes at same locations,
so that you enter the good one you have to stand there
and when inside the location to end up is already known

but indeed its very lame RP to do /exit when cornered not near entrance/exit
but a lot of cops do it also, they do /duty and inmediatly /exit

This type of thing happened to me and a few officer's last night. We had been chasing this suspect all around LV until he ran out of gas. So he runs and goes into a 24/7. We held a defensive position for close to a minuit waiting for the suspect to come out. When he diden't, we decided to raid the 24/7. As soon as we entered the suspect hit /exit and ran out and got a car. Long story short, I guess this type of thing is becoming more evident. Honestly I think its bad RP and script abuse. But personally its not that big a problem with me.

This is why you keep Units pointing at the Door outside, soon as they /exit blast them away since this kind of thing is now allowed.  Maybe next time they'd think about /exit knowing there's 3 Cops waiting for them.

I think it has been updated since. It's now a server rule as it's an /exit abuse. Anyways if it's not, you can always do as Chase said and put two or three men outside ready to kill anyone that exits (spawnkilling is allowed).

I'm seriously disliking the lack of role play I have been experiencing within Argonath the past couple of weeks.

I have to agree with Rabbit, I've been here for 6 months now, and I'm really noticing the lack of Role Play in the community this last month.

I don't even like to really play anymore because it's become Argonath Cops and Robbers. I left a Cops and Robbers server to go here because I loved the role play and the behavior of the server, which is now gone.

Don't try to pull that "Well, kind of coincidental that after you joined, it got bad didn't it?" crap. I have been told by NUMEROUS admins, ARPD Staff, and regular players I have more role play skill than a lot of "good role players" on this server. If I for one mention something like this, then there really is a role play problem.

Some of the problems I noticed:

Car's need to be started / hotwired
Criminals TOO easily run from the cops, strafe a bit, jump in a car and go. After 5 cars, not to say the admins don't do their jobs, usually don't get punished. I've been in a chase with a guy who had 12 different cars, and I /report'd for each individual car taken.

/exit needs to be fixed to the door, or illegal to use outside RP
I've had a guy do /me climbs out the window. and /exit'd - Which was PERFECT role play. So maybe not ONLY make the door an exit point, but make this a rule and enforce it.

Take off the 5 second freeze going inside/outside of a building!
Can't role play any police stuff, I get inside, and while frozen, type "/m Sheri" and am already dead by 3 combat shotgun spawn campers. I'm not the only one to complain about this. We had 8 SASD Deputies storm a house, and all 8 got wasted at once.

Firearms are too easily obtained - Incites people to kill cops, or deathmatch
Too many times I come across a "luvs2dm9923" who I pull over, he gets out, shoots me up and runs until his car explodes, gets out, takes another, blows it up, gets another, blows it up, and despite the fact that we have SIX PATROL CARS in pursuit, we can't catch him because he just blows up and gets another car. Or, the guy goes into a food place, and then kills the cops one by one as they try to enter but are frozen for 5 seconds.

More jobs, be job-scripted!
The problem that I've noticed with a lot of new players and new-regulars, is that they think they can only get money by doing illegal things, such as kidnappings and gang fights. There needs to be more jobs! Pizza-delivery, street sweeping, script road construction to actually have way points and actual goals to award money, etc etc. If I knew how to script, I'd be more than happy to do this!

This is only a small amount of things that would REALLY improve the role play, on its own without any admins or regulars intervening with the players.

Yeah the 5 second thing stumps me.. It's not even needed.

Cars:
There's a couple of other RP servers that I frequent that you have to hold SHIFT to start / hotwire the car, and when the car starts smoking, the car actually dies on you.

/exit: On one of the servers I got to you have to be within 5 feet of the door. Why can't this be added?

Firearms: To be honest, there should only be a select amount of guns available to one person. Example: Deagle, Shotgun, Country Rifle, Sniper, 9mm Pistol.

And the other weapons should only be obtained through a granted permit through a Judge. Example: Combat, M4, MP5, UZI, Tec9, Silenced Pistol. Because in real life the threat of these Class 3 weapons is lower than the threat of Semi-Auto/Un-silenced weapons.

I agree, I have been in too many pursuits that the criminals keep running. Now that the "5" car limit has been lifted i think something like any car that you do not own needs to be hotwired.
I think this not having to hotwire the car is making the server more of a Cops N' Robbers. I have only seen ONE criminal that actually RP hotwiring the car.

Seen this happen a lot. I don't care if it's roleplayed, like "/me exits through window", but I hate when they can't win and exit.
