His is a school-based Academy where-as the official one is bootcamp style. The requirements at the school are an exception to the official one. I know this because my gf was pursuing the same thing in a school-based Academy for the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department, but the official academy that I plan on attending soon requires you to be 18 and Class C-licensed. All I lack at the moment is the license though... :'(
