unsuspecting
« on: September 04, 2009, 00:41:10 am »
everyonce in a while i take a citizen that has been suspected for a RP crime and then they get a lawyer and it turns out there inocent and they demand an unsus, so im not shure 100% on how to do this. should i ask some one in the main chat, use /report, or pm a high ranked officer?
i dont like useing the main chat becuase the admins/high ranked officers never respond
i also dont like PMing them because they never respond and take it as flooding
most of the time i use /report but im not shure if this is abuseing.

Personally, I think that cadets+, or even freecops+, should have the rights to unsuspect ONLY the suspects THEY suspected. That way if it is an error, a mistake, or whatever the case may be, they have that option. Then when high level admins or cops come online, they can still keep their rights to unsuspect anyone suspected with due reasoning. This would make it much easier when the high ranks are not online, which happens ALOT. Even when I play as a Senior Officer and I'm a level 1 admin, what can I do when no one higher is online and someone gets a suspect bug or is abused? It's ridiculous...

If someone asks me to unsus, I always look at the crime and make sure that they've investigated. If it's a killbug, I investigate fastly by PMing the "victim"...

Agreed, as do I. I will go as far as investigating the whole thing to make sure it's invalid before even asking other admins to take care of it.

i allways respond to an unsus request on main chat, but indeed im mostly the only one online that does that

and else just ask in /r
or pm a Sergeant or higher, and else an admin(they are mostly busy with other things)

and since im not admin i only unsuspect when it has been investigated, requested by suspecter,
, crime invalid or killbg(by pming the killed one at /crime)

sadly enough you can suspect for rulebreaking, this ruins the complete server, since they keep rulebreaking to get suspect

I had the "victim" lie once when it was a killbug. Luckily I still got unsused.

I would like to ask how that is so? If they only have the power to unsuspect those THEY had suspected, just like the suggestion states for anyone lower than a Sgt., then what's the issue? I highly doubt they'd go as far as suspecting someone, chasing for awhile, and then suddenly unsuspecting. Even if that was the case, another cop could simply resuspect the suspect and let an admin know. I doubt that will be abused.

i really wish that cadets + can unsuspect :( because when i deal with people that are abused, i sit there with them protecting them from the abuseing cop for some one to unsuspect them.
there was once a guy who was suspected for "flameing a cop" and he had to wait 5 minuts! before any one unsuspected him.

If cadets can unsuspect all cops, then the mafia cops (cops who are in mafia's) will go on duty and cancelsuspect their mates. Of course, he will be demoted, but if no one notices etc.

First case: A criminal is suspect for something, his team mate will go on duty, resuspect him while already suspect (yes it's possible, unless he already gave up) and unsuspect him.

Second case: ever heard of these freecops running around like headless chickens looking for a brain suspecting everyone for 1, 2, 3, 4 etc.? They will just spam /su and /cancelsuspect as well, just as they spam the main chat and everything

Consequences: freecops are mostly these players who have just joined the server and need to earn money. Once they discover how to become cops, they see they have a different color, a different uniform, free weapons, can suspect everyone, they usually think to be almighty. Giving them another tool will make them even more Almighty in their minds which will lead to more abusers, more moaners and so on..

You're still missing my point. I'm saying to unsuspect only THEIR suspects. That means ONLY their own suspects. Not anybody else's. If they spam it, it'll be more than obvious to cops and admins and they will be removed from the server. Besides, most freecops don't even know the commands as it is, and Mafia cops couldn't abuse it either. If you set it up the same way as the normal unsuspect system, then their valid reason should be enough. If it's invalid admins can always fix that like they can already do with the normal system.
