CAD Web (Computer Aided Dispatch)
« on: October 17, 2009, 04:57:33 am »
SAN ANDREAS SHERIFF'S DIVISION
Computer Aided Dispatch

For an example of what a CAD Web is, please visit: http://cad.chp.ca.gov/

The Sheriff's Division's Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system is an internet, computer controlled dispatch system that all units can access from their Mobile Data Terminals (Xfire Messengers, using the internet browser), giving basic information on any crimes in progress, suspect or any identifying descriptions, and locations. The CAD Web does not include full names, or pin-point locations, as the CAD Web is public, for public safety and public relations purposes.
The CAD Web is organized into four categories of dispatch priorities:
Priority Level 1: Emergency, "Drop what you're doing and go (Code 3 Response Required)"
Priority Level 2: Urgent, "Finish what you're doing and get over there ASAP (Typically a Code 2 Response)"
Priority Level 3: Routine, "Finish what you're doing and get this taken care of (Code 1 Response)"
Priority Level 4: Information Only /or/ To be Completed at Deputies convienence

Example of a CAD Web display:

KIDNAPPING - ID 28 - Fort Carson - 1 Unit On Scene, 3 Responding Code 3, SWAT Contacted, FBI On Scene
VEH. PURSUIT - ID 9 - Los Santos - 2 Units On Scene, 2 Responding Code 3, Speed of   -/+100km/h
TRAFFIC STOP - ID 2 - WEAPONS PRESENT - 1 unit on Scene, 2 Responding Code 2
TRAFFIC STOP - ID 72 - Market - 1 Unit on Scene, 1 Responding Code 1
NOISE COMPLAINT - ID 19 - Gas Station 9 - Unassigned
MDT MESSAGE FOR #200 - SASD 200 - Private Message to Xfire

All ARPD is welcome to view, this is only updated when there is a dispatcher on duty (Most of the time I will dispatch as I play)

This CAD Web will be updated shortly, to have a more professional page. Unfortunately, due to budgets and limitations, it is a thread that continuously updates.

How is this useful/how do you use ingame?
Simple, download Xfire messenger, at http://www.xfire.com/ and use it in game, by hitting key combination: "Scroll Lock + W" to open the internet browser, then navigate to the above page, then occasionally refresh! That's it! This is very useful because it shows all crimes in progress, and can be used by anyone! Even the general public of Argonath! This way, you do not have to be in game or on duty to see if there was a call. If you crashed, or just logged on, you could look at the CAD Web to see if there's a call in progress.

Why should we (ARPD) use this?
Update occasionally (recommended every 2 minutes, it changes FAST when a dispatcher is online), as it mentions crimes in progress (all 911 calls, or /r requests are added to the list immediately if seen by the dispatcher). You should use our CAD Web because if you were AFK, just joining the game, or just somehow missed a call, you can look on our CAD Web and see if there's any crimes going on. Just remember, if you respond, to tell an SASD Member that you are going, so that call can be erased!

Do you plan to upgrade it to make it looker better?
Yup, we're in the process of it right now. If you have any recommendations, please let us know. We would also appreciate all cooperation in this, instead of groups or individuals attempting to create their own CAD Systems. Remember, if we all work together, we will achieve the greatest potential that we can as one cooperative department!

The forum CAD is the one that I was using, not the website. As this post said, the website page is coming soon, not being used :)

Surely dispatch would be monumentally more useful if you used police radio /r so then at least other players could see...

I mean, if you think it is useful, go ahead by all means, but in my opinion it could slow down progress of any calls, and potentially reduce the quality of police radio even further (if no one is using /r).

And after reading the topic several times, I think you missed the part "Why is this useful"?... as it just explains how you can use it, so maybe I do not understand it completely!

In my mind should not be used by ARPD but if you want you can make it visable to the community. We don't need it we ahve a police radio! Has the Captain said, will just slow down responces in my mind.

In my mind, it slows down responses even more when people are going "10-8" during 207's, pursuits, and code 30's because they crashed or weren't in game to hear the original call.

You forget, /r only works for those connected, on duty, and the text goes away after a while. This stays up while the call is active. Very useful.

I like this. Maybe we should run it also whith Bot Dispatchers when their are no dispatchers. or the system working whitou a dispatcher. becase their will be no 24/7 dispatchers. So teh system runs 24/7. Atleast we can see the crime in progress.. etc.
