TRAFFIC LIGHTS - NEW LAW RECOMMENDATION
« on: October 19, 2009, 06:58:31 am »

The San Andreas Sheriff's Division's Traffic Enforcement Division would like to propose that
a law be enacted for running red lights, as the traffic signals are all synchronized and the SASD TE Division has tested this.

This bill for law has been tested with 3 different subjects, at 2 different times of day.

Please view this video for proofs, and feel free to test it.

PASS THIS AS A LAW!!

Proposition 1: Stop at all red lights
Proposition 2: At least come to a complete stop at a red light before continuing.
proposition 2 is for those who do not want to sit at a red light for 5 minutes waiting
for it to change, which is what a lot of people have a problem with. Well, there's the answer.

As CBFasi once said, Chief of Police, if you are outside Los Santos and no one is around to see it, who cares if you speed - Well, same thing with the lights. Who's going to know, or care? Jesus guys, USE COMMON SENSE!!

Special thanks to Warden Shawn Edwards #220 who discovered this for us.

Not supported. It useless to stop at every traffic light when you are miles away from the others, like for example in LV.

Seriously, what the hell. Like I'm going to waste my time waiting for traffic lights. Like I'm going to waste my time watching people wait for traffic lights.

Maybe the San Andreas Sheriff's Devision's Traffic Enforcement Division can find some real cop work to do!

Real cop work? Flame much, Captain? What about the Traffic Division? SATC? SAHP? What about the fact that I'm going to be becoming Highway Patrol? Enforcing traffic laws saving lives doesn't matter to you?

Sorry, thought this was a role play server. Forget my idea and disregard it, and hey; while we're at it, no one likes speed limits so let's get rid of those, afterall you don't like to sit and wait for people so why wait on the side of the road and do /speed? Also let us as well take out Reckless Driving too, no one likes to stay in one lane, its too difficult.

Why do we have these laws: ROLE PLAY That's why we have them, and that's why I'm requesting this to be added. The only reason we did not have this as a law already was because they were DESYNCHRONIZED. Guess what, they're synchronized now.

By the way, Smey, aren't you in the TRAFFIC CONTROL? Wouldn't you support the idea of reducing traffic collisions, increasing traffic safety, and stopping offenders for traffic violations? While we're at it, let's disband SATC since traffic laws are a waste of time! :) *sarcasm*

The job of the SATC
... you are responsible for traffic enforcement and highway safety throughout the state. ..... While our emphasis on safety is always present and constantly reinforced by our training, .....
As the leader, being very heavy on TRAFFIC SAFETY, I figured you'd support the main idea for the cause of many accidents: Running a red light. Well, I suppose you don't live up to your own mission statement. Leading a division isn't about being a leader or glory, it's about organizing and promoting what you believe in and stand for.

Or how about SATC?
Dude, this is a RP server, not a race server. If you don't have patience to wait at a light, then you obviously shouldn't be following the speed limits, right?

I support this idea 100%.
It also promotes general RP, adds a new type of crime for SATC and other cops to enforce, and it opens up a new area for AVDS to teach, thus making driver's licenses that much more special to have!

Idea supported and not supported by parts of the San Andreas Traffic Control on the account that it promotes general safety and further restrains unsafe drivers from driving recklessly and speeding.

Not supported. It useless to stop at every traffic light when you are miles away from the others, like for example in LV.
Dude, are you serious? SATC enforces traffic safety and you lead it FFS. That's like saying speeding when miles away from others is useless...

If I spawn in Bayside for an unknown reason I sure the hell am not going to stop at every god damn light along the way, even tho if you do it right you only hit well umm none. But you get the point  :D As in the city...hmmm I don't support it. No one will follow it, so /su ID Running Red Light will just be like /su ID Speeding and help make this server a cops and robbers server.

Which is illegal.

I for one would love to see this new sync taken advantage of. Afterall, this is a RP server, is it not? Think about the open-ended possibilities that can exist from just adding this law. New crimes, new traffic stop reasons, new radio transmissions, (ie. Subject has just blown through a traffic light and side-swiped a vehicle, in pursuit, Code 3, over)..., etc.

Edit: Jake edited his post...

And hey, that's fine. Do what you want to do when you can't get caught. This is added for better role play, for driving around in Los Santos.

Yes, I support traffic safety, in ways like speed checks, accident support, and convoys. But I got better things to do then spend my time at a traffic light.

Fine, put the rule trough if you guys want. But I won't use it.

Well actually the Right Hand Rule that AVDS teaches is not an official rule as per Chief Celeborn. So a traffic light rule or a right hand rule would be peachy

If you mean for right hand turns, that would be awesome to add to this!

No one will follow it? How is that so? It's a law just like the other ffs...and this isn't to make it cops and robbers, this is to ADD RP to what already exists...

jesus f**king christ no, there is no way i will support this ever and if the chiefs allow this to be a law i'm going to be seriously pissed as well as hundreds others; i have no patience to wait for 5 minutes in a video game to wait for a red light to go green. It's stupid, pointless and won't help at all...

traffic lights would add a lot more of RP in the game,
i dont know how often it goes green, but if it isnt too long i support it,

although following it in not populated areas isnt needed

you guys complain about nobody following it?
then lets put the speed away also, because who follows the limit these days?
the speedlimit is the same as this, both are annoying at times

@giac

it wont help? if ppl follow it it would stop lots of rams, since ppl wont cross at the same time

it wasnt synced for no reason, so lets us it, good additional RP

A lot of Argonath players lack discipline at times, hence the sometimes chaotic condition of the server. If this encourages server wide roleplay, I am all for it.

Giac, 5 minutes? That's a little extreme. If you actually bothered to test it before bashing it you'd know that the longest lights last about half a minute max. What happened to you man...you used to be so for open ideas...

well i can understand it a bit sugar,
waiting all the time can get really annoying

but same goes for speed, sometimes i would like to race around also

but lots of things are annoying, also things that has nothing to do with RP,
this is adding more RP, and lowers ramming

Did you test to see if the lights are synced beforehand?

People ignore a lot of laws anyway, what difference will adding another one make? People won't follow it, and it'll be just a waste of time.
