Hi there :)

I understand why you are so annoyed. But there are some things i want to make clear.

I dont know what happened before, but of course a police car is not a taxi.
Secondly, freecops are not a part of the ARPD. ARPD is an official group of Argonath, therefore they do not have to follow ARPD standards only the server rules. So you can not report a freecop here.
Freecops have the right to play a corrupt cop ingame.

So to tell it a bit easier. Freecops are not our members so we cant punish them.  :rules:

So instead, next time, call 911 and tell that there is a corrupt cop driving around in LS.  ;)

Thanks Car :)

Problem is as long as he stays within Argonath rules, he does nothing wrong. Only according to the Law he does. Therefore we have SA-ARPD.

So you should have called 911 so he could be arrested  :cop:

Thanks Car :)

I've spoken with him today, and he wanted to RP a corrupt cop. Nothing wrong with that. He also stated Karliss was giving him a hard time ..

But he printed the codes, and is now trying to learn them. He's a good Rp'er.

Please move this topic to the Cases And Reports section.

Please note, I was a witness to this as an administrator after being notified by topic poster about the situation. I advised him to PM this to Pancher, but it seems he posted it here instead. Nonetheless, it was fully a corrupt cop RP. No rules were broken and the cop will be dealt with accordingly per staff's discretion.

You get me wrong. You can be a freecop that just shoots people, or you can be a freecop that actually can RP, even if it's corrupt RP. And since he's not part of ARPD, he has no rules to follow (except server rules).

Officers and higher used to be able to RP corrupt cops without getting fired. Its not a bad thing, I am all for good RP.

the RP of it is good, but then being fired is part of it,

Well you used to not get fired from it because it was considered "Good RP" and not a perm thing, and in real life there are good cops that are also corrupt. I don't RP corrupt of course but it used to be quiet frequent.

In all fairness, with how f**ked up people were acting late last night on the server, there is a fine line between RPing a corrupt cop, and breaking the rules.  And reading this, just adds onto it.

1) Is it allowed for a freecop to ticket and I do quote the exact amount of "999,999" for disorderly conduct simply because they're a part of "the freecop division"?
2) Suspecting a person for "talk!" because they were not talking and were AFK on private property (pizza stack employee at the pizza stack) when they had done nothing wrong?
3) "RPing" a corrupt cop drug deal thru /p so it "technically" doesn't count as IC?

It is no wonder why people run anymore from the ARPD (officers+ and cadets) and why EVERYTHING turns into a police chase.  It's because of this.  Anybody can use the excuse that "oh im only RPing a corrupt cop" to get away with breaking the rules.  If you are a corrupt cop, you should be copbanned (terminated with no possibility of further employment) of your duties.  They're not an officer? Why are they called a freeCOP then?

Now, don't take this as a bash on all freecops.  Afterall, there are many of them in our finest subdivisions of ARPD, but its those who give the rest a bad name.

Its just with last night there was no admin on for about 45min to an hour and everything turned to shit.  I could make a damn book on all of the stuff that happened.

I think this is a good time to bring up the bigger problem than just corrupt roleplaying. Most freecops don't know SAPD roleplay procedure in the first place! An (excellent) older topic about free cops and their power/use on the server: ( http://arpd.argonathrpg.com/forum/index.php?topic=5242.0 )

To quote a really good idea from that thread:
Freecops is a real problem, to admins, players ,cops, suspects to everyone!
sometimes i try to patrol with freecops but sometimes they're very hard, like, unstoppable.
some of they are good, some others, goddamn.
a good sugestion is do not allow someone at the first day that he joins.. like, he needs to play 1 week and have passport in order to become a freecop.
doing this will encourage such jobs, such as driver, medic, hooker, etc..
so we'll not have a state with 70% cops, 10% criminals, 5% drivers, 4% medics 1% hookers.
not good to see that percentage.
If this happens, probably we're going to drastically reduce number of cops.
should be like: 40% cops 15% criminals 20% drivers 20% medics 5% hookers.

There's a huge lack in the professionalism of MOST freecops. Anyone can join the server without any prior knowledge of rping and instantly be given a badge and a gun. No wonder we have so many complaints.

As Austin said in this thread earlier, "Freecops are not our members so we cant punish them"....then what are they? vigilantes? We are going to continue to have these same problems until something is changed.

If I remember correctly I did not get a gun when I was a freecop.

As ARPD law states, it is illegal to be corrupt. As Argonath RPG's rules state, it is allowed to RP a corrupt cop. In other words, what happened here is allowed by the server rules, by disallowed by the laws themselves. This means that yes, you can get fired for being corrupt, but no, your firing would not be administrative-based for breaking a rule.

Basically, if you are fired for this, it's for being corrupt; not for breaking the server's rules.

indeed, freecop without gun is even more useless then they are now

and yeah Sugar, the RP part of being corrupt also consist of the risk of being caught,
and logically you get fired then,

if you RP corrupt, then you know that can happen
