Tutorial: Very LOUD siren mods... Enjoy.
« on: September 03, 2010, 17:04:52 pm »
OK guys, we all know the original siren sound in GTA SA is pathetic. So I've got together some of the best siren sounds and amplified them so you can hear them from further away which makes pursuing a lot more safer for yourself and other road users. I'll also show you how to install them which is surprisingly a lot more simple than you may think...

1. The first thing you need to do is download the siren pack.

Download link: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=4BTWQC5G

2. Then what you need to do is download Alci's San Andreas Audio Toolkit which is a better version of the original SAAT.

Download link: http://www.gtagarage.com/mods/show.php?id=5777

3. Copy the files into your San Andreas directory ("C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\GTA San Andreas")

4. Run "SaatGuiFrontend.exe"

5. Tell the program where your San Andreas directory is and also set this to your working directory. You can set your working directory at any time by pressing CTRL+G inside the SAAT program.

See Example:

6. Select "GENRL"

7. What you then need to do is scroll down to "Bank_068"... "Sound_011.wav" and "Sound_012.wav" are the ones we are going to be replacing. Sound 11 is the slow siren and Sound 12 is the fast one.

See Example:

8. Now what you need to do is select "Sound_011.wav" and then either press CTRL + R or click "Actions" and then replace.

9. Now you need to decide what siren you're going to replace it with (from the soundpack you downloaded earlier, it's totally up to you. Personally I use the "Yelp_Old2" + "Pier_Old2".) Then locate it in the SAAT program and then click open.

10. You need to do exactly the same thing for "Sound_012.wav" but select a different siren from the soundpack you downloaded earlier.

11. Once you're happy with the siren's you've replaced, click the Floppy Disc icon on the SAAT program (SAVE) and save it.

It's as simple as that! :cop:

Mheh. On topic: I don't really think this will actually help you that much. Maybe the volume will be a bit louder, but that will be about it. There's no way you will hear the actual siren earlier. Your client starts playing the audio file of the siren as soon as a vehicle going code 3 comes within a certain range of you.

just replace the file with a new one... that you already replaced with "Wail_New2.waw", and the engine noises will be normal again

It has nothing to do with Vista.
